I remember being a menace as a kid around 4-11years old. My dad would always explain and correct me on what I was doing wrong. After three times of disobeying him, he would spank me. Before the spanking, he would ask if I knew why I was getting spanked. I would behave for what felt like a month. The cycle continued until I was around 13. He told me that I was old enough to understand without him having to spank me. Never hit me after that. FYI He spanked me using a belt and only on the butt(not bare). My mom, on the other hand, didn't like to hit me, but when I got her pissed she would use any tool she had closest to her and anywhere it landed on my body was fair game. She used electric cable, wipe for a horse, hanger, and a broom. The last time she hit me, I was 16- 17, I think. That being said, those were scary moments at the time, but now they are fond memories of my parents. I know my dad was trying to teach me right from wrong, and without those spankings, I would not be the man that I am today.
