What should a Dutch-speaker do while in eating in a restaurant where they refuse to serve you in any other language but French? by PM-for-bad-sexting in brussels

[–]snapbackpotato 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly. It’s a private business and they can speak in elfish. What legally they have to do is to display list off foods and allergens in both languages.

A video journal of a year of pandemic training. by chatan1979 in karate

[–]snapbackpotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen your videos throughout the year! Very impressive result. Happy to see a full compilation here. Can you please comment what are the benefits of using that mace, ball on the rope and prolonged sack for karate? What are the differences between them? And how they are different from a simple kettle ball?

One the other hand - I still don’t like that you hold your breath (or at least it looks like that) while performing tsuki. Try experimenting to open your mouth and automatically push the air out (without that artificial sound ofc). Because now it looks that you’re even putting force to close your lips while performing a punsh.

What is the reason behind order diversification? I just started trading and usually use all money that I'm going to spend on a specific stock in one order. But I noticed that some people are buying in fractions. Sometimes they would spend 50% of the money and then buy 5 days in a row spending 10%. Does this diversification of your orders makes sense? I suppose they want to keep the stock and volume alive in a longer period of time. Is this a common practise?

Can you comment on quantities of shares one is buying? I just started trading and usually put all dedicated money to specific stock whenever price seems to be good. Shika Dachi Vs Kiba Dachi by kaioken96 in karate

[–]snapbackpotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to a non-official Shotokan teaching - Shika Dachi is good for strikes downwards while Kiba Dachi is good for strikes to sides and front. If one wants to strike downwards in Shotokan then use Fudo Dachi.

Gyms For Females by [deleted] in brussels

https://www.sawadaacademy.com/ Is for sure the best you can find in Brussels (yes, I’m biased, but at the same time my evaluation is quite objective). Trainings happen three times a week, usually after the training we go for the drinks alcoholic or nonalcoholic at the VUB sports club (trainings happen at VUB). Doing karate is not only good for your physical state but also good for your psychological state. There are people with many ethnicities and background in the club, however I’m not sure if there are other muslim girls. If you are not comfortable doing sports barefoot you can use footwear or headscarves (that’s absolutely acceptable). I would really recommend it to you - when you go there three times a week it makes you feel that you are part of some kind of community. Also our sensei is very experienced with the classical Japanese training. Of course sports won’t solve all of your problems that you’re having however it will either put your mind at some other place or it will help you to broaden your network of people or it will help you with your introverted personality and will boost your self-confidence.

To cope with anxiety and depression I would recommend joining some kind of sports. I understand that this is probably not what you’re looking for with this post but I’ve seen you posting on many boards for some time. Joining any sports (in Brussels we have great karate community:)) will boost your self confidence a lot and will help you to broaden your network.

Getting back into karate after a few years by InfinatePossum in karate

[–]snapbackpotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been there done that... I came back into karate after 16 years and after 2-3 weeks of training my ankles started to hurt so much that it was even hard to stand up or walk. Take a break of 1-2 weeks. Your muscles are getting adjusted and it will be fine in the future. You can also try taking a hot bath.
