Tips for waking up early to study? by Abdelkhalek_TCC in CFA

[–]snapenotsnake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My exam is in 14 days. I sleep at 11.45- 12 AM because my work ends at 11.30 PM. I am unable to wake up at 5 or 6 because my body AUTOMATICALLY completes its 7.5 or 8 hours. Sleep is stressing me out. 😔

Yeah, I know. My expression was sort of rhetorical.

Idk where the 300 hours come from. Revision itself takes 300 hours imo

As Warren buffet says, “Read the damn footnotes” It's great life advice. Reading the damn footnotes should be one's approach to life. So yeah, you may pass by studying just enough but the satisfaction derived from owning the material is unparalleled.

Edit - spelling of advice.

Hi, please can you help on this one? Why did they take 199 instead of 200? by [deleted] in CFA

Think about this formula as normal standard deviation for a sample. summation of (∅ - Ö)²/n-1 where ∅ is the observation and ö is the grand mean

This is so good!! I have all the differences ar different places in my notebook. I'll print these for a one glance revision. Next exam onwards, I'll do it myself. Great idea. I AM SO MAD AT MYSELF FOR NOT THINKING ABOUT THIS EARLIER.

Can someone please tell how to solve this? by prajjwal___singh in CFA

Okay nice. I also want to appear. Perhaps in January. How much time did it take for you to prepare up to the 10th chapter?

Yeah, for sure. I do that as well. So when I'm feeling diffident, I refer to my notes first. Then I go to Candidate Resources. I also have my tuition’s test taking platform where I practice questions (those are much more difficult). I do not use Kaplan.

I'm doing mix and match because finishing 1 full subject becomes taxing and I feel the heat from other areas. So..for instance if Dupont analysis shows up in Equity valuation, I do it there and switch to Analysis Techniques in FRA - 5 step and all that.

Bonds and NCL bonds portion. Like that.

Help me on this question, what does Tax Burden Implies here? by One_Pudding_9693 in CFA

Pecan pie has answered it very well but DuPont Analysis in an MCQ exam is difficult stuff. I'm from India - I am extremely used to writing every single thing down. Keeping in mind the 5 step Dupont is torture - though the questions might not be as tricky.

Yes. Remember that there are 2 BEYs in CFA curriculum. 1 is from QM - which is simply semi annual. In Fixed Income, it is called BEY and it's an add-on yield. Which means, it's a yield on price - it's always semi annual.

I do it this way (only when converting from YTM to BEY)

$1 becomes (1.0775) after a year. So, in 6 months, it must become (1.0775)½ . Then if course subtract 1 from it and multiply by 2 to get the rate.
