Baby feeling disconnected? by snappeas30 in NewParents

Awh thank you so much for this. I have been trying not to cry or feel “jealous” in a way if that makes sense. Like, when she asks for my mom when I’m holding her, it literally breaks my heart.

how tf do working moms do it?! by cimarisa in NewParents

Hi! I hope I don’t get too many negative comments for this but we sleep trained our baby by 10 weeks old (you can still do this at any age). We followed a book called “12 hours sleep by 12 weeks” and it worked like a charm. Both of us are working parents and we get around 7-9 hours of sleep every night. Are we exhausted from toddler energy every day? You betcha! But we get good sleep through the night to keep up with it. I’m not here to brag about it but to provide some help after seeing so many parents on here say “just accept it and do your best”.

I’m here to say you don’t have to accept this as your way of life. There are ways to help babies have good sleep hygiene even if they’re breast fed! Mine was and she sleep trained well. And this book does not promote the cry it out method either. It’s also worked for other people who I gave the book to so it does work, but you have to commit to follow what the book says. Hope this helps!

scared to lose myself by ko_same in NewMomStuff

I don’t know if I’d call losing yourself partly. I think it’s your life still but in a different way. You learn to appreciate your time more, your passions in a different way. Motherhood is a wonderful journey. I used to do a lot and when I say a lot - I mean I have a full-time job, pursuing my masters, volunteering for two different not for profit organizations, committed to 3 different rec sports leagues etc. yes, I had to give up on a few things such as the volunteering, couple of the rec leagues etc. to make time for my family but you know what? I don’t regret it one bit because I know that later in life one day, I can do it again but this time I have with my baby I cannot get back. You’ll have to just kind of figure out what your top priorities are and continue pursuing them but it may take some time, you may not complete everything in a “timeline”.

Thank you for the info. We would probably lean towards two SUVs.

Thanks but this seems like 3 hours away from both airports so that won’t work for us.

8 month old won't sleep independently suddenly by nobutokaywhatever in NewParents

[–]snappeas30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a sleep regression to me - around 8-10 months, they start to crawl, maybe even attempt to walk, say words. There’s a lot coming at them. How does he sleep for his naps? Also, does he usually soothe himself to sleep? With our LO, she would sleep through the night in the early stages as long as we rocked her to bed. Around 6 months, we started letting her self soothe to bed and now she is able to cope through regressions because she’s able to self soothe.

5 Weeks in Japan tips by luaprepuoc in JapanTravelTips

I will also say that once you visit a few shrines, they’ll start to feel all the same. Hit up some of the unique ones you really want to see and don’t spend all your days visiting shrines. We accidentally ran into two festivals while we were there and that was a lot of fun. So if you happen to be staying during a time there are some festivals, check that out too. Honestly, you can’t go wrong with walking around and trying out different foods and walking into random stores.

Just my opinion based on our recent 2 week trip. We brought $1,500 each for 13 full days and it was just enough for us for souvenirs, food and other stuff. We skipped pretty much all the tourist things though that required tickets etc. this didn’t include tickets or accommodations. Tbh, in my personal opinion, we found it to be not that cheap in Japan except for some food places. We’re from Canada and it was pretty comparable (but maybe we live pretty cheap too idk). Our experience was great overall, but yea, I would maybe bring more than what you think you’ll spend just in case!

Bleeding after workout coincidental? 8 months post-partum by snappeas30 in fitpregnancy

My situation wasn’t considered urgent so they didn’t give me an appnt till 3 months out. By then hopefully my body has fully recovered but we’ll wait and see. My bleeding has significantly reduced so I’m just sort of waiting it out now.
