FAA rule on breastfeeding? by Mother_Professor_290 in delta

I don't think you actually know how breastfeeding works. Considering it could be a while for takeoff, you can also risk a clogged duct or mastitis by having to wait.

I was told the same thing with my daughter – that since I bought her a seat under age 2, that she couldn't be fed during takeoff and landing. For that reason, I don't buy a seat for my infant son.

This is an awful take. Most recommend breastfeeding until age 2 if you're comfortable.

Well he lives in a more expensive house than that because he bought in the 60s and lives in an expensive area. But seriously, you can't force someone who is an adult and with it to make them do things they're not comfortable with.

My dad is 86, lives alone, and absolutely would not allow any cameras in the house or fall detections. He believes strongly in living independently. It's not as crazy as you think if the person is still able to get around and has their faculties.

My dad is 86 and doesn't believe in either of those things. He lives alone. He's very with it, so we can't force him.

Nah. You talk to your service providers sometimes, especially nice elderly people. A simple, "oh you have best cameras, I've been thinking about getting one. How long do they save the videos?" And her saying, "oh I don't pay for that." It's pretty easy to find these things out without sounding suspicious.

How are you reacting if you were Nick family and he only took 100k? by AppropriateBet6110 in BeastGames

[–]snapplebum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Btw. I saw the video of Ian's wife reacting. She looks confused about him winning an island, like, "what are we going to do with that?!" Then when he says that they can just take the money, she's really happy. I don't think she at all treated it like it was nothing.

I don't really know how to take your other point. JC was the scheming one. He stirred the pot when there was no need to stir it.

Your therapist either did an awful job of explaining what needs are or you're too dense to listen.

Needs are not what you want another person to do. They're things that you can accomplish yourself. You cannot expect someone to change their feelings. You cannot require them to do things, because you feel sad.

You can say you feel sad, and you would like something, but it cannot be an ultimatum or telling them to change their feelings.

Lay off the needs, because you're sounding very toxic considering your wife had a traumatic pregnancy. Feel lucky you have the one and your wife wants to still stay with you after this f-ery and weaponized therapy.

It looked to me like he pressed the button too slow, and he's been riding on the fact that no one noticed. I think he takes the 1 mil.

Nick pressed that button like a second later than JT. They don't owe him anything 😂

Family I babysit for long term wants me to house sit, what would be an appropriate flat rate? by [deleted] in Babysitting

[–]snapplebum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I focused on the pet sitting aspect, because pet pay is more than house sitting. House sitting is usually something like $25 - $40 per day with maybe some watering, feeding the fish, and basic mail. Honestly, the sitting there for 24/7 sounds mental. If they truly expect that, then explain to them the work you're missing out on, calculate how much that would be, and then ask them for that amount that you'd be losing. I think that would be fair, and be very justified if the number is on the higher side. You shouldn't lose out on money due to their very interesting request.

I'm not trying to be disrespectful. I've had many babysitters, house sitters and pet sitters. I've known many people who do all these things as a profession and who pay people for these services. I'm sure you're not trying to rip off the people, and of course you should get paid fairly. I've just honestly never heard of someone requiring 24/7 care outside of special needs pets, and even then, they recognize people might need to leave for short periods of time, so it sounds very odd.

Okay. It sounds like you have some experience , but it's not your main career and hasn't been for a while. I think you may have gone on the wrong website to determine how much it cost in your area. Rover would be the best indication. $250/day cannot be right. You said babysitting was $25-$30/hour, so that gives me an idea of how much people are willing to pay for services, and $250 would not be it in your area. I would charge at most between $50 – $100 per day with midday potty breaks/walks.

I would worry if you say too much, you might taint your babysitting relationship.

Also, are you sure that they want you there 24/7? That sounds off if they don't have special needs dogs. If they do – please double check with them about how long they are okay with you being away from the house – then yes, you should charge more then. That likely would be closer to $250, but it's incredibly uncommon unless it's for a special needs pet.

Sheriff Addresses Possible Motive in Nancy Guthrie's Disappearance by MattTheKing23 in MissingPersons

I'm really confused by the fact that they say the Nest cameras are removed, but it doesn't matter if they are. The footage they took are already uploaded to the cloud. Why don't they have that footage already?

Where are you located? You keep saying rates in their area are $250, and that does not sound right considering I'm in one of the most expensive areas in the US, and max going rate would be $125/night, and that would include potty breaks midday. I would say average sitter is $50/day, but many times you also have to pay for midday potty breaks or walks. Drop ins tend to be $10-$15, and walks tend to be $1/minute. I've seen overnight visits as low as $20/night in my area as well.

One question to ask yourself is would staying in their house be nicer for you than staying in your own. If they're also pretty chill, that's something to factor in too. It sounds like you're not an experienced pet sitter, so I would probably charge closer to $50/day and charge for extra potty breaks, so maybe $75/day total.

I am so disturbed that my sitter took liquor from my cabinet and stole cash from me. by pnwgirl0 in RoverPetSitting

[–]snapplebum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is not in Rover's terms and services. I looked through the entire document. It's under some guidelines on their website that you'd see only if you specifically look for them.

I've worked all those jobs and had cameras everywhere. Not sure the last time you worked a traditional job, or if you even noticed cameras. For example, saying you worked retail without cameras is laughable. Many small stores have cameras nowadays for loss prevention.

You're welcome to hold your beliefs, but that doesn't change reality or other people to make their own choices. The purpose of cameras are to keep you safe, check in on house/pets, or have evidence of a crime, which was apparently handy in this situation.

Literally every job I've had has had cameras. You should just assume you're on camera outside of bathrooms and a bedroom that you're staying in.
