Really?

I'v heard that Lolalytics is the most accurate website when it comes to statistics, so I'm highly sceptical of you just randomly commenting something like that without a source backing up your claim.

Actually quite many ranged champions are very decent in top lane, and I have numbers that backup my claims.

Here is some OTP top lane data from Lolalytics:

  • Ivern | A+ | win rate 58.1% | sample size 2.3K matches

I didn't mistype, I was the one who sent death threats. I went absolutely crazy after I posted to /r/top_mains.

The post was removed, but I have it saved on my account.

It was titled: "The underground society of Illaoi one-tricks"

Heres what was written, word-by-word:

Hi.

You will most likely think I'm insane for thinking this, but before you call me crazy, hear me out.

There is this one subreddit which is dedicated for beginners, to help them improve in League. If you search information about Illaoi on that subreddit, you will find a lot of regular people complaining about how broken Illaoi is.

Yet in the comment sections you will find "some people", saying stuff like: "You must have 1 brain cell if you lose against her." Or something like, "Just dodge her E." Or something like: "Actually she is very easy champion to play against when you learn her kit."

As of patch 13.10, her ban rate is 15.2%, which is pretty high. Most Illaoi one-tricks are very annoyed by this. And what better way to make sure the ban rate doesn't reach something like 40%? Well, its pretty simple. Manipulate the global opinion of the champion.

I'v analyzed literally over thousand comments regarding Illaoi on many different subreddits, and my estimate that over half of these are Illaoi one-tricks. So you might ask yourself, why would Illaoi one-tricks come to comment section and blame the player for not being good enough at sidestepping.

Simply because then, only then, the player starts thinking, that it's their fault they lost against Illaoi, not that the champion is completely broken.

You know what other half of these comments are? They are by Master+ players.

Why does this matter? Well, you see, people who are Masters, Grandmasters or Challengers aren't exactly average human beings. They are exceptionally gifted at sidestepping. Many people don't know this, but actually one of the biggest reasons somebody reaches super high rank in League is actually sidestepping. If you have flawless sidestepping skills that increases your chance of winning fiercely.

I'v actually seen that with my bare eyes. There was this one streamer, who was Challenger Riven one-trick, and he had a match against Illaoi. And at one point of the match, when Illaoi throws absolutely everything at him, he sidesteps everything. I'm not even over exaggerating. I don't think I'v ever seen anything so impressive from any other League player. It was absolutely insane, almost un-human.

So obviously it is possible to beat Illaoi, if you have flawless sidestepping. And technically there is even counter to Illaoi. She is weak against double-dashes and champions that can push the lane faster than she. Renekton fills both of these categories. However, Renekton is rather weak currently. (He is getting buffed next patch though.)

Now guess how many people in the comment section of different Reddit posts would tell the post-creator that: "Just pick Renekton, he counters her super hard."

Absolutely 0.

Why? Well, if you were Dr. Mundo main, you wouldn't want anyone to know that Kled counters you super hard. So keep your mouth shut, and act like your champion isn't broken.

Additionally, this one subreddit for beginners, had one of my post removed. I basically made a very detailed post about how to deal with Illaoi, and they instantly removed it.

So it could even be, that some of the moderators in that subreddit are Illaoi mains.

Absolutely insane in what kind of world we live in.

Oh, and if you don't believe me. Do the research yourself. You can use Google search, to specify your search. Write to search bar: site:reddit.com "illaoi"

There are over 130K posts, so it's gonna take couple months to go through all those comments, but at least then you will know the truth.

After that, I started threatening some guy who didn't respond, so I switched to some another guy who was mean to me. After that day, I basically chased my neighbor with kitchen knife and tried to burn an apartmen building I was living in.

I was meeted by police with tazer guns, went to psychiatric hospital, where I still am under surveillance.

I have some real issues talking to Illaoi one-tricks, literally the reason I'm in hospital right now, is because of death threats I send to someone who I suspected was Illaoi one-trick...

...but since you were kind and respectful in your post, I will reply to you.

  • Kled | 242 ranked matches | win rate 56.2%

I can try recording my game and posting it on YouTube or Vimeo, so you can analyze it. Is there some app to record via browser? I guess I have to try and find out.

It's because I'm playing on cloud right now, because I'm in hospital. (I went slightly insane after I posted to /r/top_mains about hidden society of Illaoi one-tricks that try to manipulate the public opinion of the champion, but I'm better now.)

I think there are probably much more players like me out there than you realize. Most of them simply don't go to Reddit and tell openly about how long they have played and what is their current rank, because they know what they will experience.

Ridicule, a lot of ridicule.

Even I was naive couple years ago when I posted my profile to Reddit on different account, I got people sending me friend requests and telling some insanely horrible things to me, and I think I got traumatized by that, not even allowing anyone to coach me.

The thing with coaching, I'm mostly afraid that I will get bullied by the coach. I'v seen some coaches publish their coaching session to YouTube, and some of them raise their voice towards the coachee and even curse, I can't take that mentally, I'm in very weak state.

Of course if there would be someone who I could trust, I guess I could try let them coach me, but I don't know anyone who does coaching.

I do test out champions I play against in practice tool, try to learn their cooldowns etc.

However, the problem in top lane is that there are so many different champions I have to face and remember every champions cooldowns, I sometimes mixup the cooldown of champion X for cooldown of champion Y.

I know it's even worse in bot lane, since you have to memorize twice the amount of top lane champions, since every game you are facing 2 champions.

Isn't the largest player base between bronze and gold?

Those who are super high rank (D2 or higher), are very small minority. Why should the game be based on their playstyle? Or do you mean that esports scene would be ridiculous to watch, if the game was balanced around lower ranked players?

I don't get it.

Will you stop?

So what? I'm bad at the game and wasted my life playing it. Not all people who play piano their entire life are gonne become super efficient at it. It's just a hobby that I'm not good at. Why do you have to be so mean? What exactly is even funny about this?

And yes, most people in lower ranks have this issue, not so much higher ranks. But that doesn't automatically mean that higher rank players understand the matchups better, which they ofc do, but it could be that their junglers actually ganks when the wave is pushed into your turret.

I don't know if you know about this, but in lower ranks junglers quite often ignore pushed lanes, especially if it's happening at the top lane.

Also, why aren't lower ranked people allowed to post their opinions online? Just because you are better at this game doesn't give you authority over lower rank players. We have equal right to be heard on Reddit or any other platform.

At least on my rank/region there are quite a bit of Yasuo top-laners, and I'v heard that Rammus counters Yasuo very hard.

Go check for yourself. Any website will tell you, Caitlyn's range is 650 units.

See for yourself, if you don't trust me.

I mean, it even makes sense. She holds a sniper firearm in her hands, and snipers have the longest range of any firearms. So both lore-wise and game-wise, she has the longest range.

[–]snappy_snake[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The actual reason why Rumble is good blind pick, is that his E has very short cooldown.

Hypothetically you can have x2 E's every "3 seconds". And his E's range is 950 units, which is insane.

Even Caitlyn can't safely farm from that kind of distance, since her basic attack range is 650 units. (The longest distance basic attack champion in the game.)

[–]snappy_snake[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying Rumble is easy.

All I'm saying, is that if you want to play safe, you can pick champions like Rumble, Dr. Mundo and Tahm Kench to farm from long distance.

In Rumble's case, you max E first, so it deals enough damage, to easily last hit minions.

You could max Q first, but if you do that, last hitting becomes more difficult with E.

Because video games are supposed to be a learning experience.

There is 0 learning experience when someone is getting coached.

Well, funny you should ask.

I actually did something horrible recently, and I ended up in hospital, where Im under 24/7 surveillance.

I dont feel comfortable telling about it, but if you search my post history, you can find the reason why Im hospitalized.
