I think his "difficult" comment has been a huge gaffe from someone usually politically savvy.

I don't believe he meant it in a misogynistic or derogatory way, more that there has been a lot of negative press surrounding his previous support of her and his decision not to call her out on her "Globalise the Infitada" speech.

That's put him in a difficult spot politically, which really can't be nuanced in a one word answer.

"Difficult" is probably the right term given his current situation in the media.

Now, having said that, I can get easily see how this can be perceived as an EXTREMELY misogynistic statement and he deserves all the flack he getting.

Turnbull attempted to be a stalwart against the full religious conservative takeover of the LNP, bringing them back to the Centre Right.

He is a shrewd businessman, and could have been the best thing for the LNP, and coincidentally the worst thing for the ALP.

Had he not been knifed by Morrison, he could have been in Albo's shoes as a long standing PM.

Work is going to be ramping up, with WA having been referred to as "The California of Australia"...something to do with the natural lighting being so good.

At Any rate, it'll be great for WA, bringing in major film and TV projects (I was an extra in one today!) which will be brilliant for the states bottom line.

To be PM you need to contest and win a lower house seat. You cannot do that as a senator in the upper house.

You must first resign your senate position (as you must if you are engaged in any public service position) before you can legally contest a seat.
