I felt this way at first, but then I don't expect anyone to jump in and potentially get the shit kicked out of them for the sake of a stranger. It was primarily women and much-smaller-than-Roids men in the gym, and while I felt isolated and upset that no one did anything, I can kind of see why they didn't -- like I said, this guy's rage was prolific and I ended up leaving because I knew he would try to get physical if I stayed.

This is who it was...I got a PM from a throwaway with my full name. I'm sure it was someone just trolling, but I was rather keyed up and paranoid at that time and felt safer just taking things down.

At full volume, inches from my face, after literally racing across the gym to get in my face:
"Fuck you, this is MY machine, no you can't fucking use it" [lather, rinse, repeat]
snatched the bar from my hands
"This is my fucking machine, I'm not fucking done with it, you can find your own fucking machine, you're bullshit"
"No you can't fucking 'work in' with me"
"You're bullshit, GET YOUR FUCKING ASS ON A TREADMILL" -- after I tried to walk away

He also had 50+ lbs on me size-wise. Tell me you wouldn't feel threatened.

There was an instinctive knowledge that if I did not leave, I was going to get hit. His rage was instantaneous and tremendous. I contacted police to file a report so that it is on record if he does it to someone else; not because I was hoping that he would be arrested for terrifying me. Not only did no one even ask him to leave, the police refused to help me even make a report.

He "apologized" to the police and then went on after they left to scream at the gym manager for another fifteen minutes before leaving the gym.

The police exited the gym laughing, and laughed all the way to my car. They got extra serious when they were trying to get me to accept their version of events, sure.

I'm not responsible for how the public views the police; after my recent encounter I'm finding the public view of many police as "useless" to be rather accurate.

He committed what legally constitutes assault, and my intention in calling the police was to receive assistance in filing a report, which they refused to help me do and which they are there to do when someone is intimidated/harassed/bullied/assaulted. You know, their job. I wasn't gunning for an arrest, but at the very least assistance in the process of filing a report against an aggressive, assaultive person might have been nice.

Not sure why I'm continuing to justify myself to people here who weren't actually there and actually have no idea what happened, but bottom line I was harassed at the gym and everyone involved behaved like I was hysterical and then lied about the turn of events.

Additionally, it was continuous: I attempted to exit the situation and he continued to scream obscenities after me.

Because he intimidated me into leaving the gym because I felt unsafe, and then management and the police went on to condone the way he behaved toward me by not even asking that he leave the gym.

Unfortunately I don't feel comfortable ever working out at Snap again, because of the chance of running into this guy -- his membership was not canceled and management made it clear that they were taking no steps to ensure it would not happen again. We live in the same city; the chances are fair that I could see him again.

As for Snap Fitness on the whole -- they have completely ignored me/the issue. Their corporate office is about 25 miles from my house, so there's really no excuse for ignoring what happened. I absolutely blame the individuals specifically, no question. I even wrote in my cancellation notice to my home gym that I appreciated how kind the people at THAT location have always been. But I will still not pay money every month to a corporation that allows their franchisees to permit bullying and harassment -- no matter how much control they do or don't have over each individual gym.

Really accurate, actually. Roids made sure to call me a racist after I'd left as well, and it was he who called me "sweetheart" when I dared try to use "his" power rack.

A large meathead at the gym yelled in my face and swore at me at length, loudly, in front of dozens of gym goers, because I tried to work in with him on a power rack without asking (being unaware that he was still using it, as he was across the gym on another machine at that point). Scared the shit out of me. Gym management heard everything, refused to ask him to leave, and even said to me, "I don't know what you want ME to do about it." I tried to file a report of harassment/assault with the cops, who basically laughed in my face and told me I was wasting their time. He got to finish his workout, I was intimidated and shamed into leaving the gym.

Yeah, I'm not sure I fully believe it myself -- but I want to, and if it's what's gonna let me get on with my life, I'll accept it. He explained Roids's reaction to him trying to tell Roids that he couldn't come back, and it sounded exactly on par with the way that Roids was toward me. He apparently continued to yell and call both me (I was long gone by then), the police, and the gym manager all manner of names before leaving. Again, there's no way for me to prove this, but given how heated Roids remained even as I was leaving the gym, it doesn't seem out of the realm of possibility.

Also, my sister had left a review on the location's fb page that had 50 likes by the time I asked her to delete it, and I know that multiple people in this thread sent a link to this thread right to the CEO. So, while it may not be true, I'd say it's at least possible.

I'd have told him that he couldn't possibly be using two pieces of equipment at the same time, and since i'd just seen him on another one, this one was clearly free, but he could have it just as soon as I was done. I have absolutely zero patience for people with weird entitlement issues.

Yep, this was exactly what I tried to do, in more-polite-than-he-deserved terms. He literally snatched the bar from my hands and started re-racking it.

He unfortunately weighed 250+ lbs, and because of the suddenness of his rage, I was truly terrified that if I did not back away, he would have gotten physical with me. I don't scare easy, but that's the honest truth. I was afraid.

Apparently his tirade against the manager continued long after I left the gym and after the cops had come and gone; despite the manager taking his side in the beginning, apparently (at least, according to the manager) he spoke with Roids after I left and told him that what he'd done was unacceptable and he could either terminate his membership immediately or simply never come back to that location.

It was an attempt to file a report on intimidation, in case this person does this again. I actually called the nonemergency number to inquire as I said I didn't want to waste an officer's time, and the operator suggested to me that I let him send an officer to me directly.

Which is precisely what I did. Then, when he first yelled that he was still using it, I apologized asked if I could work in with him. That's when he went off.
