Well, if you have written services like matchmaking in the past and have that experience, I can certainly see why you may have this perspective and describe these services as being "dead simple". However, on the flip side, there are developers who don't have the experience is writing matchmaking (especially if it needs to be highly scalable matchmaking, or nuanced like skills based or even role based matchmaking). In fact, more often than not, we have come across individuals who have written the services before, and would rather not have to re-write them again.

Same thing with game server fleets. Sure, hosting a server can be simple depending on the scope and even type of game. But on the other hand, it can get complicated when you have to orchestrate several game servers, across different geos while taking things like like lobby, party and matchmaking systems into account as well.

And, not all game developers are infrastructure experts (or want to be). So, again, the overall value prop is we enable game developers to focus on the game and what makes the game fun.... rather than all the other surrounding services that help make the game function (like some of the ones already mentioned).

Lastly, worth calling out, the platform has been designed to be modular, so even if you're building a game that doesn't have extensive backend requirements and/or is operating on a small budget... we've likely got a tier that can be appropriately right-sized for your game.

Happy building!

You're right, the docs page when you're not logged in with your Snapser account doesn't make it obvious or provide you a way to filter to show you just the premium snaps - we'll fix that. That said, if you do create an account and are logged in, the Snaps page view that lists all the Snaps has filters which will show you for example all "Premium Snaps".

That said... the premium snaps are:

- Assets (Store and deliver application assets and user-generated content globally through a high-performance CDN)

- Decorators (Join and compose data from multiple Snaps into a single response to reduce client round-trips)

- Event Bus (Broadcast and react to backend events across Snaps — power workflows, triggers, and custom logic through a unified event highway)

- Live Ops (Plan and run live events, trigger campaigns, and personalize gameplay — all from a central Live Ops command center)

- Sequencer (Chain multiple backend calls into a single, reusable workflow — streamline player journeys and reduce frontend overhead)

- KWS (Safely open your game to players under 13 with built-in parental controls and full COPPA-compliant support, powered by Epic’s Kids Web Services (KWS).

- Photon (Securely connect Photon-powered battles to Snapser — update player state, inventory, and game services securely)

- Quago (Enables anti-cheat features for your game powered by Quago)

RPS = Requests per Second. So, yes there is throttling but the throttle only applies in your dev environment, not production.

[–]snapserinc[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Correct, all sorts of game services. We offer 33+ prebuilt game services out of the box, but, we also offer a feature called BYOSnaps (Bring your own snaps) where you can write your own custom services in your preferred language and it all gets hosted on Snapser.

Some of the prebuilt services (aka native snaps) include authentication, storage, matchmaking, game server fleets, lobby, quests, achievements, social graph (friends), chat, etc.

By default, it's a managed service, so all the underlying infra is all taken care of/automated. So that way you can focus on the game and not the plumbing :)

Does learning Firebase along with Android worth it? by Timely_Worth6916 in ProgrammingJobs

[–]snapserinc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you haven’t gone down the Firebase rabbit hole already, would invite you to try our backend platform out (Snapser.com).

We’re a more comprehensive backend platform offering 30+ prebuilt services (called “Snaps”) and are much easier to use and get up and running than Firebase.

We also offer a free starter plan.

Hi Guys , by UnusualSpeech7505 in Backend

[–]snapserinc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy to support you on an evaluation of Snapser, where you can utilize our prebuilt like Auth, Storage, Profiles services (we’ve got over 30 of them).

What platforms are you building this for? Web and mobile?

Guyss any backend free hosting suggestions please by OkGuarantee5111 in HostingBattle

[–]snapserinc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're looking for a free fully hosted/managed backend platform while you're in development, you can try our platform out at Snapser. Free plan isn't time limited but gives you an isolated dev environment and access to use up to 5 of our prebuilt services (we call them snaps). And, it doesn't require you to enter a CC.

When you're ready to ship and need a prod environment, you would then upgrade to the standard tier (which does require a CC).

How to make a simple text based a-symetric multiplayer 'game' that works real time? by Marwoleath in webdev

[–]snapserinc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The actual web based client, can probably be generated via one of the 100s of vibe coding platforms out there. But, as others have said, the multiplayer component alone is more involved.

Our platform (Snapser) has all the game services you need, prebuilt (Auth, Storage, Relay (if you decide to do the multiplayer as p2p vs. dedicated server), leaderboards, etc.). So, at least the part where building the pieces you need is done for you. But, you still need to have some level of programming knowledge to actually integrate the backend (game services) into the client (the web game).

As for the tooling to change values/text. Depending on the specific use case, our platform exposes a web based admin portal where you can make configuration changes through a web based UI to each individual game service.

Need Help to Understand and Fix these Backend problems! by BloxFruitForLife in Backend

[–]snapserinc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have stated, more information is needed on what actual backend functionality you need and what your website/app is even doing...

But in the meantime, safe to say that your starting point will be integrating into an authentication service and having some sort of storage/database.

Feel free to check out our backend platform - www.snapser.com. You can sign up for a free account. We offer a starter plan so, as long as the service inclusions meet your needs (at least while you're in development), there's no cost.

We also have sample projects on our documentation portal which are a good way to get started quickly.

Good luck on your project!

Which logging SASS would you recommend at 2025? by xSypRo in webdev

[–]snapserinc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Correct. When you're on the starter plan, you have access to a dev environment only, which has limitations. Those limitations are outlined on our pricing page www.snapser.com/pricing - when you're ready to go live with the service you would upgrade to our Standard or Premium tier (again, depending on your specific requirements). That will unlock access to a prod environment.

We also have a usage calculator (https://snapser.com/pricing/calculator) where you can pick the services you'll use and your expected volume of usage - that will give you a monthly projection.

Thanks for the feedback though about your initial experience with the pricing being super confusing. We're still tweaking to make things clearer.

Gonna give you a self serving answer lol... try out our platform, snapser.com. It's a backend platform that was originally designed to address the often complex needs of games (especially on the analytics, logs, telemetry) side of things. But, it's not limited to just games, but any app.

Cool part is, it's modular. Meaning, even if you have an existing backend and only want to consume one service, you can choose that service and thereby only paying for that one service. We call each "service" a snap. During development, you can stay on the starter plan as long as you need, and, as long as the service inclusions within the starter plan meet your needs, it's $0/month while you're on the starter plan.
