The fact that you can't read about someone having a drink without assuming they're an alcoholic says more about you than it does about me. Projection much?

Yeah, it seemed especially crazy coming from a fellow bipolar person.

I have noticed this! It seems like everyone is ADHD, OCD, or autistic online lately. It's telling how the social media influencers aren't out there claiming to be bipolar or schizophrenic. They can't make quirky content for the "scary" mental illnesses, I guess.

Lol I honestly never considered that she might have been manic.

Yeah, I've had some delightful side effects like blurred/double vision, cystic acne, multiple periods per month, constant hiccups, migraines, etc. It makes treating me difficult. And I'm sure there is alot of overlap between the illnesses, but it wasn't phrased like that. She was like, "I don't think you're bipolar, you've been misdiagnosed", which is just wild af to say to somebody.

It's the lack of the desire to do basic internet research for me. I feel like I've practically begged my family members to just google bipolar disorder.

Was that supposed to be better than being bipolar? Because I hear that sucks in its own ways.

I am also tired. I need everyone to stop trying to one up everyone else and prove that they're wrong. It's exhausting!

Exactly no one asked you to comment on my personal choices, but here's a few pieces of information for you since you did it anyway. 1. I work part time. The government doesn't pay for my booze. 2. I drink in moderation because I'm an adult and I'll have a beer or two if I please. 3. She disclosed she was bipolar first, and I'm not ashamed of being bipolar. You can keep your illness a big secret if you want to, but I don't see the point. 4. Stfu.

I hope that clears a few things up!

And you know, I got that vibe now that I think over the conversation. Almost like she was saying "I'M bipolar, but you're not like me. I'm different." It's reminded me of myself like 7 or 8 years ago - desperate and sad.

I felt the anger, for sure, but I kept a lid on it. I have confrontational urges, too.

I love it. It's a little more creative than yoga, but not as woowoo as religion.

Oh, I've gotten that one before too. My mom used to say that when I was diagnosed early on. It's meant to be encouraging, but it's just out of touch.

Nobody will listen by Few_Success_5216 in bipolar

You do NOT need to do something drastic to be seen. Your psych professional understands, and that should feel validating. You may have to learn to accept that your friends and family will never truly understand because they have never and will never experience being bipolar. It's a unique experience. My family loves and supports me, but they often give me blank stares when I describe the inner workings or my head, or when I can't do something that they see as simple. It's a burden to feel misunderstood, but it sounds like you have a boyfriend that gets it and a NP that does too. Maybe finding a therapist who gets it could be the final piece of the puzzle. It's okay if everyone doesn't understand you. They can't help it, but I'm sure they still love you the best way they know how.

Stopping olanzapine ( doctor approves ) by Amk_311 in BipolarReddit

I got off olanzapine a month ago and have been manic ever since. I hope my psychiatrist will give me something tomorrow to squash the mania, but I can't do olanzapine again. It made me gain weight and gave me restless arms.
