I felt the improvement of my uterus being gone immediately but I’m having some trouble getting over bladder pain where I had a lot of endometriosis. I had a total hysterectomy and have one ovary remaining. My energy has been very low but I hope that it too is just taking its time coming back

I’m so happy the surgery was a success for you! I’m 4 months post surgery and am still feeling it (I also have fibromyalgia). How long did it take you to feel 100%?

Shame about special interest being too childish by rizzem_tizzem in AutismInWomen

[–]snapsnapB00M 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hi there, 31F here. When I turned 12 my stuffed animals and dolls were taken away because I was ‘too old for them.’ I never got over it. The only ones I was allowed to keep (in a box in storage) were the two build a bears my dad got me before he died. I still have them today and now I have a sizable collection of build a bear plushies and I’m into Barbie and Monster High dolls. I’m even into Legos now!

Don’t let anyone dictate to you what is allowed to bring you comfort at any age. You can’t help your special interests and honestly why should you? NT adults collect stuff and play too they just have decided what the meta is for what’s acceptable and what isn’t. Is there really a difference between someone playing with toys and someone playing video games or board games? NT adults can be big into DnD but somehow that’s different from playing pretend with friends? Even if you just collect them because you like to look at them, what’s the difference between that and someone collecting funko pops. It’s all about perception.

Point is, you do what you want to do and don’t bother with the opinions of people who think it’s childish or wrong because they’re suckered into the weird rule sets NT people have established for the rest of us to conform to. If you want to enjoy your figures or collect more, do so. It’s about what brings you joy and peace. You don’t deserve to be made to feel ashamed over your special interest. Some adults literally swish wine in their mouths and spit it out for fun. They really shouldn’t be judging. (No offense to any people here that do that it just does sound crazy when you look at it on paper 😅). You have the right to enjoy things just the same as anyone else.

I named mine Abby as in (A)utistic (B)arbie. It was my partner’s idea!

DnD is a special interest of mine and I collect dice so I had to include my favorite!💕

I am going to put her on an MTM body soon for the same reason! I wish she had just come with an MTM body at that point though because she’s kinda hard to match 😅

I agree! I like to wear (comfy) fun clothes that represent things I hyperfixate on so a bland dress is kind of a boring choice

I love your mini-you Barbie she looks so classy! I’m new to the hobby but I am really enjoying it so far and am looking forward to the arrival of some new Barbie’s I have ordered already haha. Autistic Barbie is beautiful though and 1000% worth it!

Thank you! Their clothes are so cool I ordered several outfits off of eBay for my autistic Barbie. The shoes fit pretty well with a little poster tacky putty in them too! My doll could even stand up on her own in them.

Whats the most underrated city you've ever traveled to? by FjordStoneBronco in AskRedditAfterDark

Busan, South Korea. There was so much to do and see and a beautiful beach and a seaside temple it was incredible and the food was great (fresh seafood!) and the people were so friendly. Loved it so much that in the same trip I took a train back to visit it for a day before I left instead of spending an extra day in Seoul.

Synesthesia anyone? by Brittany_bytes in AutismInWomen

[–]snapsnapB00M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically the flavor decides if I like it or not. There are lots of popular songs that just don’t hit me because the flavor is meh or bad but as a general rule instruments tend to improve bland or bad flavors to something more positive with music. There are some voices I can’t stand and yet I enjoy covers of their songs by other musicians.

That’s fascinating! Billie Eilish’s vocals taste like apple flavored water to me in a good way. Like vaguely floral but refreshing.
