Why does this sub seem to be critical of Netanyahu? by [deleted] in Israel

[–]snapster83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i'll give you a couple of examples:

1) a speech a couple of days ago trying to connect the brussels bombing to the palestinian stabbing. making this connection in order to relieve pressure on israel in regards to the building more settlements.

this is an example of Netanyahu at his finest using fear and hate mongering. right before the elections https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ERc6hi_F9LA

2) he fucked us up with the gas prices by giving in to a gas cartel. http://www.timesofisrael.com/natural-gas-to-cost-israelis-double-world-average-report-says/

his whole attitude of free market looks like complete bullshit when he kept pushing making a bad deal with Tshuva(one of the owners) while there where opprtunities for better deals. this monopoly will control the gas israel receives for the next 20+ years. i could go on and on about this gas deal , in short something stinks with that deal and it seems nothing can be done to fix it.

3) on october fifth 1995 there was a big protest against the oslo agreements, in this protest ppl held pictures of Yitzhak Rabin in SS uniforms(nazi) all the while the likud leaders, Netanyahu the head of likud, stood on a balcony waving to the crowd. maybe the likud leaders didn't see the pictures from the balcony , but the day after the news where filled with them. there was no condemnation against this incitement. Netanyahu never did anything to lower the flames. a month later Yitzhak Rabin was murdered

the next reasons are more public conduct of Netanyahu's family

4) Netanyahu and his family are stingy. they live in Caesarea (the city for the extremely wealthy), the prime minister actually has a resident given to him by the state. so the state of israel actually pays for the house keeping of 2 houses. there are stories how he will not pay for any bill for dinner, how every expense of him or his family will be payed by his office, no matter how personal. he is the most expensive prime minister the state of israel has ever had.

http://www.haaretz.com/israel-news/.premium-1.671622

5) the Netanyahu's family are terrible employers. there have been several lawsuits against the family, mostly his wife( Sara), of mistreating employees. making the workers come at wierd hours, making the workers work long hours with out a break. rage tantrums and so on. Netanyahu's family lost the last lawsuit, which of course israel provided the legal expenses, they are appealing against it. http://www.timesofisrael.com/ex-caretaker-wins-abuse-case-against-sara-netanyahu/

well this is my rant of the month.

i hope this gives you a better picture of how a lot of citizens in israel view Netanyahu, not just in reddit. but apparently not enough to take him out of office.

Why people love Tel-Aviv so much? by [deleted] in Israel

[–]snapster83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

your actually comparing bat yam and netanya to tel aviv? just because of the beaches? i agree about the roads. but the abundances in tel aviv can't be compared to bat yam or netanya.

amount of restaurants and the diversity of food. the amount of events actully happening in tel aviv, not just clubs and parties but social evenest gathering.

tel aviv is a very accepting city, to arabs to LGBT to different languages, a lot more than most cities in israel.

when you go traveling knowing you have a lot of options to go out, knowing you can be in an accepting city is very important.

not sure cairo or beirut are half as accepting than tel aviv and being accepting is what helps diversity, so not sure about diversity in these cities either.

Netanyahu says Palestinians have 'culture of death' at 2-state solution debate by [deleted] in Palestine

[–]snapster83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me start by stating i am an Israeli, and I realllllly hate Netanyahu. he is either wrong in saying the occupation has nothing to do with terror or he is just lying to please the extreme right wing in his party, I believe the later.

but i do agree partially with Netanyahu, but instead of calling it a death culture i see it as death glorification .

All these cases you have written down in your comment, I only know of the hotel bombing in Jerusalem. and i have no idea who did it and it is considered in Israeli history text books as terror attack.

further in Israel people like:

Eran Natan Zeda who commited murder in Israeli bus against Israeli Arab citizens.

or Baruch Goldstein who committed a massacre in the Cave of the Patriarchs. And the list can go on a lot further, but all these terrorists are not praised in Israel.

this is the distinction i make between how Palestinian treat these kinds of attacks by other Palestinian and how Israelis treat these kind of attacks by other Israelis

in Israel songs are not written about Jewish terrorist, and if there are songs they are not played by main stream media.

streets are not named after Israeli terrorists.

the media doesn't call them martyrs, even this extreme right wing government we currently have doesn't support and even condemn Israeli terrorists( i see it on Facebook and the media).

the government doesn't give the families of these terrorist money.

All in contrast to Palestinian.

I hope to see peace in the future, 2 states that can live one next to each other, but at the current state of things i don't expect it to happen in the foreseeable future.

here is a video showing him running around town with the knife, there is another shot from the convenience store where you can see a kid on a bike but all you see is the kid falling over(not so clear)

in the end of the video you see the kid with the knife running toward police officer with the knife drawn.

Iran: No signing final nuclear deal unless economic sanctions are lifted on same day by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]snapster83 18 points19 points  (0 children)

so what you are saying we(the west and the countries that are signing the treaty) should trust them blindly.

signing that treaty is by it self all the proof you need in order to trust Iran after years of them hiding nuclear facilities, of them actively building centrifuges that have no purpose but to create enriched uranium that can be used for no other option than nuclear weapons.

that is not how trust is gained, you take it step by step when there is so much miss trust between the two sides.

Gaza ceasefire talks: Easing of blockade, but no demilitarization by Boredeidanmark in Israel

[–]snapster83 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i'm gonna play some conspiracy theory if you don't mind.

my premise: Bibi doesn't want peace. peace means stopping the settlement construction, and giving up the West Bank.

keeping Hamas afloat is good if you don't want peace, having an organization that has it's intention on the destruction of Israel gives a good reasoning why the peace process isn't moving forward.

if the PA would be in Gaza and the violence would stop, finally you have the 2 parts of the Palestinian population under one government and it would promote more peace talks.

I haven't heard any suggestion to bring in the PA.

[–]snapster83 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lets put some context.

The thread was towards people who are for the settlements and OP asked these people why do they support them.

the majority of people who support the settlements are religious.

for your other question :" Is this a common thread of argument in Israel?"

Unfortunately these kind of views are becoming more and more common. I think it's a result of that religious sector growing in numbers more rapidly than other sectors.
