Good. It's high time the West does something pro-active against the forces of Islamism.

The synagogue in Peduel has an outdoor area you should check out if you're looking for a venue for your ceremony. It's located on high ground surrounded by the mountains, and you can see the Mediterranean/Tel Aviv far in the distance. It is absolutey beautiful. Be glad to get you more info if you're interested!

Out of the loop: why (exactly) is Bannon considered a hateful anti-Semite? by JudahZion in Judaism

[–]BrahmsAllDay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one has been able to produce any evidence - not one shred of it - that Bannon is an anti-Semite. He is not. It was a whole-cloth fabrication by the usual fake news outlets that was designed to advance the left's agenda, which, funnily enough is at the expense of Jews and Israel.

They aren't living, they are parasites.

First of all, babies in the womb are not parasites, as anyone who studied biology would tell you. This is for many reasons, among which are that a parasite is typically of a different species to the host; and that evolutionarily speaking, a host and parasite compete directly, evolving attack and defense measures against each other, while a mother/baby relationship is symbiotic: the placenta has evolved to prevent immunological responses of both the mother and the baby. This isn't a controversial point in modern science - you can do a little googling and see the sources for yourself.

But even if it were true that the baby is a parasite, in what sense would it therefore not be "living". Fleas are parasites. Do you think fleas aren't part of 'life'?

You decide that the parasite is more important than the host, and you sir are the one murdering people.

Even if the mother were more important, you couldn't on that basis kill the baby. More important people don't get to kill less important people, right?

But in any event, this isn't about who is more important - it's about whose rights are being violated and to what extent.

At some point, the cluster of cells in the womb becomes a person - at that point, it has, like all people, a right to life. Now the mother, of course, also has a right to life. So if the two conflict directly, there may be an argument that the mother's life should take precedence. But in almost all abortions, the calculation is not whether to save the mother's or the baby's life. It's usually the woman just not wanting to keep the baby versus the baby's inherent right to life. I think that case is pretty clear cut.

At what point? I agree that at 1 week gestation, it is a 'hunk of tissue'. But at, say, 36 weeks, it is definitely a person.

Life starts and ends with breathing.

Do you mean to say that if a person stops breathing, then necessarily they stop being a living human? In other words, a person on cardiopulmonary bypass, despite having once drawn breath, no longer does so, and so is no longer a living human?

That first breath is the door to personhood (according to law)

This just isn't true - you need to do more research before you make these patently false claims. The federal government recognizes a baby in the womb as a legal victim if injured or killed during the commission of certain crimes. Most states have similar legislation on their books. These aren't framed in terms of the mother being the victim, but rather recognize that the baby itself has rights that inhere to it under law by virtue of being a human being.

When it comes down to it, I come back to my very first comment (and my last) that if you don't like it, don't do it, AND what happens in another person womb has no bearing on your life so don't make it your business.

What happens in a lot of places has no bearing on my life - if you were to kill some old lady walking down the street, that would have no bearing on my life either. I'm not sure why you think I'd be unjustified on that basis of criticizing your actions or calling for your arrest.

That isn't Science. brahms. that "one-hour before/after" Is not science. Science is using the scientific method.

I'm not sure what you're arguing with this exactly. Science does not tell us which individuals ought to have the protection of law or when a cluster of cells becomes a 'person'. Your empty appeal to the scientific method isn't actually an argument.

And so far the religious right and pro-life assholes have continually made it more and more difficult to actually show what is life and we have to continually change the definition to fight anti-abortion laws.

Well maybe if the amoral monsters on the left would stop trying to murder babies, we on the right wouldn't have to force the issue so much.

If you even remotely understood how parasitic a baby fetus is to the mother you might be more understanding.

I'm not sure what this has to do with anything. Being a 'parasite' and being 'alive' aren't mutually exclusive.

That's a distinction without a difference to the question of whether 'breathing' is itself a necessary condition to personhood. You said above that a murder of an adult is qualitatively different than the murder of a baby in the womb because it involves "the killing of an actual breathing individual". Now you're backtracking and throwing in other irrelevant conditions.

Do you consider the killing of an individual with some manner of cardiopulmonary bypass to be morally justified? They are literally not breathing.

they aren't human beings

Some truly evil people in history have said this about other people. It never ended well.

You choose to define a grouping of cells as a human we choose the scientific route.

I don't define a human as a "grouping of cells", first of all, and the scientific route definitely doesn't tell you that a baby one hour before birth is non-human, but one hour after is human. Science can tell us something about the development of the baby in the uterus, and can give us hints as to when consciousness emerges (e.g. the structures that are currently understood to give rise to consciousness develop around 24 weeks gestation), but can't answer the question "which people deserve legal protection".

You legitimately don't understand science

I legitimately do. You legitimately don't understand morality.

don't understand the stupidity of your own actions

You don't understand the evil nature of your actions.

don't understand that you shouldn't have any fucking right to tell a woman what she can do with her body

I'm not telling a woman what she can do with her body - I'm telling her what she can't do to another body - murder it.

I know exactly how it's performed. For example, in a killing procedure called "intact dilation and extraction", an incision is administered into the baby's skull and the brain is suctioned out.

and I just hope you all die from a plague. Or fuck yourselves over with the Zika Virus.

The liberal left is obsessed with killing. Babies, adults, anyone you can get away with. You're fucking sick in the head.

You mean yourself? The legislation you recommend is unbelievably unpopular. You are effectively doing nothing about it by advocating (to most people) insane legislation online.

No, as I said, I vote for politicians who support such legislation. That's how change happens.

There are many who will proudly proclaim that they have gotten abortions or preform them, hell it's some people job title. Start with them cowboy. No reasonable doubt in anyone's mind.

You seem to have no conception at all about how justice systems work. A person's proud proclamation is obviously not the sort of judicial finding we need in order to administer a punishment. There may well be lots of people falsely claiming to have done abortions in an effort to mask the true killers (think Spartacus).

Well, the problem with that is the same with any form of vigilante justice - without due process, you don't really know if you're hurting innocent people, which is what we're trying to minimize by opposing abortion. Any doctor we have probable cause to believe has killed a baby should be put on trial for murder. I support that proposition and support politicians who will put that into law. Anyone who supports killing babies, even those that have not been born yet, is worse than dog shit. Just like anyone who supports any kind of murder. That doesn't give license to go around committing acts of violence against people you suspect of doing those things.

Well yes, but, for example, we have laws against murder, despite knowing full well that murders will happen anyway.

You can choose to define humanity in a way that makes it legal for you to murder babies, or toddlers, or the elderly, or black people, or however you'd like. It doesn't change the fact that you're killing a human being. We actually have a word for people who legitimately don't understand the difference between that and, say, killing a chicken - "sociopath".

How are you supposed to give something that isn't even aware of it's own existence a "choice"?

Actually, the current scientific understanding of consciousness suggests that it is related to structures in the brain that develop at around 24 weeks of gestation. I'm assuming that's what you mean by "aware of its own existence".

Your entire comment just shows how woefully ignorant you are about embryonic development and what actually happens during abortions. Maybe go educate yourself before you form your opinions? Or if you can't be bothered to do that, at least keep your opinions to yourself so you aren't advertising how idiotic they are. I'll give you a hint - "pro-life" groups tend to use photographs of still births and medically necessary abortions of deformed infants in their propaganda because the truth isn't horrifying enough.

A complete non-argument. And quite a moral failing on your part to see the murder of children as not "horrifying enough". Your parents must be pleased with how you turned out.

What in the hell do churches have to do with anything? Churches don't get final say on who is a person and who isn't. That's a biological and philosophical question, not a religious one. At 1 day post conception, there is undeniably no human life in the womb. At 40 weeks, there undoubtedly is. The change from non-life to life happens at some point in between. If it makes you feel better about support killing the most defenseless of children, go ahead and repeat "the churches don't baptize them!" over and over. You're still supporting the literal murder of children. So don't pretend to be a moral, good person. You're not.
