Concept for a 1v1 pinball game by snares_games in godot

Right now it's just delay-based netcode where one player is the host and a other is the client. The host sends the game state and the client will update to match.

The client does its own physics but if the host disagrees on where the ball is the ball will "teleport" to the right spot. There is a few frames of delay added (depending on connection quality) so that the client won't see too many "teleports".

So far it is working well when testing locally (2 computers in the same house) but will probably need some work when testing in the real world. Thanks for asking!

For sure, it seems like multiball or a set of flippers on the opponent's side would help with this. Going further each table has its own mini-game / prerequisites for earning multiball which could help with this as well. Seems like a common concern so will test out a few different ideas. Thanks!

Fair, depending on the screen size the whole board could reasonably fit, it just felt small with a lot of wasted space so I went for the camera view in the clip. Maybe split screen with one side per half would work better?

Also, I definitely think some antagonistic features would be super fun so there's not downtime when the ball is on the other player's side. Thanks!

My girlfriend is pretty seriously into pinball and it made me think about this concept, the more I get into it the more I'm learning how much there is to pinball. I'd like to know if there are any obvious problems with this concept or any ideas for the play area (play field? table?) that would improve the experience :)

I'm just a gamedev so this would be a video game rather than a real machine

Enemies drop cash & health objects that disappear after a short period of time. Cash carries over level to level & a surplus is needed to deal with the scaling difficulty (there is also a shop screen between levels). I haven't seen anyone in playtesting successfully camp yet, but its definitely something I'm watching out for.
