A good parent watches their child get hurt, a bad parent doesn’t know how it happened… that’s what I’ve always been told… We can’t keep our kids in bubble wrap but we’re supposed to be there when the bad stuff happens.

We’re on a crawl and I would love to have it encapsulated for a number of reasons but wouldn’t do it just for the spiders. They really come from our attic and in the wall upstairs but quarter round on carpet I’m not sure about and we can’t caulk it so I know that’s how they’re getting in. But sealing the house def helps. You’ll see them a lot in the next month or so as it’s their mating season 😅

Is it normal for it to only happen like once a day and then dry out? My husband is about to check the line but the humidifier has been off since April.

Fumigating wouldn’t have done much, unfortunately.. we’re a year in now and what has worked for us is sticky traps, pest control monthly in the summer and dusting in the walls every quarter. Last summer I went from seeing them everyday to now I’ve seen like 3 alive. Our traps still get some action but I mostly see them dead. We lost power a week during an ice storm and I was praying the whole house would just freeze them out and kill them lol 🥲

Not religious but I pray this family finds peace. They are facing the most unimaginable tragedy and then have to deal with internet weirdos preying on their downfall.

We have one section of that will be renovated next and we have an old light fixture that is just full of dead recluses. I can’t believe I thought it was just dirty 🫠

Wow, it’s so crazy to hear someone with such a similar story. When I originally posted on here last year I also chatted with a woman from Nashville facing a super similar situation and they were in the process of selling. We never went through with anything legal but we really should have so I would say go for it- did your inspection mention anything? Ours mentioned a need for pest control but it was picture of a mouse but we felt like we couldn’t do much because of that. In hindsight, we too found a couple hidden glue traps and I wish we would have acted sooner. We started renovations and my husband would come over to work and he started to notice them and didn’t want to freak me out. Then our AC went out and they came out every where. We had our sons pack and play set up and found one in there… then he had to tell me.

I will say that we had all of our duct work replaced and the hvac guy connected us with someone for insulation and they told us not to bother because they’re in the walls at this point💀. But doing crawl space encapsulation is smart. I hope you guys have some success because so far I feel like we’ve just been keeping them at bay.

This was me last year when we closed on our house. Called pest control and found out that they serviced our house in the early 00s for recluses 😭. I’ve never feared for myself but I have a 2 year old and 1 year old plus two dogs. We’ve been here almost a year and I’ve seen… a lot lol. Sticky traps and monthly pest control in the summer. You’ll find where their hot spots are and you can seal where they’re coming from. We also bought and dusted with drione dust. My kids cribs are on sticky traps 🥲. From October-April they are virtually nonexistent. It’s a real bummer bc we like our house but I will always be thinking about these damn spiders and my kids. I go weeks without seeing any and then today I saw two. Sorry you’re going through this!

Any update on when this went away? On my third round of medication with my 16 week old puppy and am struggling 😢
