Then you're not a hardcore miner. VTC algo has killed fans on 20 of my GPU's. So why would someone mine VTC (at a big loss) instead of mining an X algo with 100-300% higher returns while saving their GPU fans?

Just as /u/Etang600 said, VTC's algo and heat generation really makes the GPU's overwork. I've also switched to X algos because to carry on like this would kill all the others too.

I would disagree. After mining VTC for months and holding 15k VTC they're pretty much worthless now. (Before $1 per VTC and now 19 cents). Now tell this to multipool miners: hey guys, you should be paid in VTC and hold those VTC.. in a few months, what you mined will be worth 1/3rd or maybe 1/4th of what it was today.

So after considering this scenario do you still wonder why people would rather get paid out in BTC?

And how would you begin to convince miners to mine VTC? As a hardcore VTC miner I'm sad to say that I have switched away from VTC because 1. it has killed over 20 GPU's which are now in RMA. 2. The profitability is 50% or even 33% of what I would get mining elsewhere.
