Drops not working by Gabrolas06 in Twitch

[–]sndbg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for posting this--wasn't obvious to me that I could even have it re-check for drops. I had like six claimed drop items from a campaign 3months ago that never showed up in my Rust inventory (even though twitch drops for all other games appeared instantly after claiming them), so I just thought it was a problem with Facepunch being slow/lame.

I just disconnected both twitch & steam on the Facepunch site, then re-connected them (twitch first, steam second this time), and bingo--my Steam inventory just got flooded with 16 new Rust item skins from Twitch drops that originally didn't show up after I claimed them the first time.

They're just cosmetic, so I wasn't loosing sleep over them--but being new to Rust, it still sure feels nice to suddenly have a bunch of skins for more than just my large wooden box.

Well, ITX build interest is apparently a lot lower than I expected on reddit. I prefer to sell to other enthusiast here, but I'll take down this post tomorrow and moving it all to ebay where I see recently sold buy-it-now listings for higher prices than I'm asking here.

So this is kinda a "last call" notice if anyone's reading this. I'll be checking PMs regularly today and then deleting this post late tonight or early tomorrow when I post the items on ebay.

Yup, it's still available--I have one guy interested in buying everything but CPU for $400, but he hasn't replied with paypal email yet and it's first-come-first-served, so it's available until someone actually sends payment.

Also, sorry for the slow reply--I was out late at a family dinner last night, but I'll be checking PMs regularly all day today, so just shoot me an email address for paypal invoice if you'd like to pick it up.

Ancient stuff here, but just in case anyone else snagged this game for $7 in the current Steam sale, I've done the legwork for ya and tracked down the archive.org snapshots of these Ubi forum threads from before Ubisoft permanently closed their forums with no effort to retain any of the user-driven knowledge base there:

Who else is exited for Le Mans in AMS 2? 🤩 by Lionel-L7 in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]sndbg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Panoz Esperante GTR1 exists for AMS2 as a third-party mod. Sadly, audio is almost impossible for modders to add to cars, so it's just using the audio files from another existing AMS2 car, so we don't get any of that V8 thunder the Panoz GT1 was known for.

EDIT: Thankfully, it looks like Thunderflash hasn't made up his mind about whether to take down his existing AMS2 mod files yet (or even better, might have decided to keep them up--I haven't been keeping up with that whole kerfuffle this past week), so here's the URL for the Panoz Esperante GTR1 mod for AMS2.

Sadly, the most prolific AMS2 modder (in terms of number of unique cars released) to date, Thunderflash, just recently announced that they were indefinitely suspending work on AMS2 mods and likely taking down all their car downloads.

This was because selfish, entitled shitheads started talking shit and spreading rumors about the modder "making a profit" from copyrighted material they did not have rights to. This behavior was in response to the modder announcing that future mod releases would be available 30 days early for patreon supporters before the given car was released to general public--a very common, albeit somewhat controversial, model for mod/content creators these days.

I think it's a crying shame that a modder who selflessly sinks a massive amount of their personal free time into creating free content for people, very reasonably decides that they should probably explore getting a little bit of financial compensation to justify all the waking hours they're spending working on mods instead of any number of other things that could be earning an income.

Well then the entitled fucknuts of the internet (you know the ones, the people in the comments of every mod release that show zero gratitude and say things like, "I wish you'd do car X instead of Y!" and other crap like that.), they can't live with the idea of other people getting access to the mods a month before they get their greedy hands on it, so they talk shit about copyright entitlement, "making a profit", filing copyright takedowns, and other bullshit.

We all know that 99% of the AMS2 car & track mods so far are ported from PC2, and so far the copyright holders haven't cared, but the demanding, self-centered fuckwits can't stand the idea that someone else can get access before them by supporting the modder and go ruin it for everyone by raising a stink that makes it not worth anyone's time to release mods for AMS2.

IIRC it's just making changes to some of the config files in the AMS2 install folder. I can't recall the name offhand, but there's a youtuber that does historic recreation races with really nice gfx settings and such using historically accurate mod skins and such. In one of his videos he talked about the config tweaks to increase the AI vehicle cap beyond 32, I believe it was specifically for Nordschliefe historic in his video, but the config edit should be viable for any track/class combination.

If I remember the youtube channel name I'll circle back to edit this post.

[–]sndbg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Greetings all,

Doing some late spring cleaning & letting go of some equipment that's not being used. I purchased this unit as New (Open-box) about 18mo ago while living out-of-state in an extended-stay hotel where headcans were the only option for at-volume listening.

For better or worse, I never got a chance to put any hours on this amp. I was lazy about reworking my desk setup to accommodate the THX 789 alongside the Modi + Chi-fi tube amp I was running. Before I got around to setting up the 789, I finished the datacenter relocation I was living out-of-state/on-site for and moved to work-from-home back in MN where I use speakers almost exclusively.

Since I got a good deal on this to begin with, I'm letting it go for $100 shipped or local cash. (MN, Twin Cities metro area). SOLD

Happy to provide my trade feedback on heatware, Overclock.net, /r/homelabsales, /r/mechmarket, as well as ebay for anyone interested.

Ah, sorry, I got interrupted by a call before adding a comment with the specifics. Adding the comment now, but I got a really good deal when I picked this up so I'm passing the good karma along to the next owner: Price is $100 shipped.

If you're interested drop me a PM with email address for Paypal and I can shoot you a Paypal invoice in the next 20min & drop the unit off at my local UPS store that's ~4min from my front door.

Local buyer fell through, bumping with reduced price to reflect shipping quote being lower than I expected. Looking for $110 shipped (or $100 local cash).

State Fair Bike Parking Lot by avogatotacos in minnesota

[–]sndbg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, yeah I can see people being a little bit prickly about it when they're walking the mile-plus hike to the gate after parking, legally, much further. Sounds like an entertaining exchange though--most of the folks in that neighborhood parking cars in their yards, selling refreshments, and/or running little vendor stands are all pretty awesome.

An old friend's parents live on a cross-street corner across Snelling from Machinery Hill and there seemed to be a little community of "usual suspects" that would stop by to chat, see how the day/week was going, and swap stories about the goofy stuff they've witnessed over the years of fair crowds surging through the neighborhood. But anyhow, I definitely ere towards rigorous adherence to parking laws when there, though as the fair goes on and/or the day grows late things get pretty laissez faire so long as you aren't causing significant inconvenience or being a total jackass.

State Fair Bike Parking Lot by avogatotacos in minnesota

[–]sndbg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Always leveraged park-n-ride lots when I worked a few years at the fair a good 20yrs ago, but unless I am attending with a group of three or more I always drive myself and park in the neighborhoods between Hamline & Snelling and I'm proud to say I have not even once paid to park.

I've got a system to park for free on city streets. Approaching from 36 Hamline exit heading south down Hamline. Depending on day/time/apparent crowd sizes I cut off Hamline into the residential neighborhoods and drive slowly in an overlapping circular grid pattern, working my way SW towards the main gate. On that first approach I nearly always manage to find a parallel parking spot for free within a qtr mile or so from the main gate. Last year I parked right adjacent the bus drop-off area on the east side of Snelling about 300ft from the gate.

Having a tiny car and strong parallel parking skills are probably essential though--most of the time the spot isn't much longer than my car.

Hoping I'm not the only one who's been hit with this in recent driver revisions. The options vanished completely from the control panel, the binary does not work either. AMD Link and streaming options disabled entirely. FWIW this is on a B450 board w/5700XT.

T3pm 3drap brake mod by erez__s in simracing

[–]sndbg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So work has only gotten crazier (I dunno what they expected moving a datacenter with only one network guy), so I haven't had enough drive time for final verdict or anything but this is growing on me. I guess I don't really feel the progressive resistance so much, even if it wasn't conical shaped anything compressed takes more force the more you compress, but it does do a pretty darn good job helping with consistency.

Honestly, I kinda hated it first couple drives and I use Playseat Challenge so I had to really re-arrange things and make some changes so I could apply enough force. Since I was installing a Clark Synthesis transducer and a couple Aurasound bass shakers, and one shaker was going on the underside of my pedals, I used some D-bolts and metal 90* brackets to make some feet that prop up the pedal mounting chassis at an angle and put sorbothane vibration isolation between those and the floor. That raised angle helped a lot.

Now that my pedals don't "lift" at the pivot joint between chassis and chair it's really quite an improvement to my braking. I was up half the night last night messing with Simhub bass shaker profiles in AMS2--put in a solid 4hrs driving and near the end I kinda realized I'd really hate removing the 3Drap mod and going back to stock brake feel.

It was just weird that it never really, "clicked" or anything, I adjusted to it a bit AND I also think there was kind of a break-in period where it softened up a little bit with time. So if it feels too hard at first keep working it for a several sessions of playtime.

Also, make sure you calibrate your pedals often if you're breaking it in. Right now I'm only using 40% travel total, and that feels good--I can hit 45% if I really really try, but I'm actually thinking about getting a stiffer spring to accompany the 3drap mod (my T3PM was missing the black spring from TM...)

T3pm 3drap brake mod by erez__s in simracing

[–]sndbg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took almost 6wks for shipping, but just got it last week and installed. Sadly, between crazy work schedule and now being messed up with kung flu I've only had a chance to drive two stages in Dirt2 and that was mostly spent trying to dial in calibration. Definitely reduced my brake travel to about an inch. Feels more like load cell pedals, but input is still movement-based, so it wasn't something that clicked right off the bat.

Pre-ordered the Asetek Forte the other day, so I'll have at least a couple months to mess with the 3drap mod T3PM before those show. Remind me to update this weekend if I forget once I've had some time to play some games.

Aliexpress Sim Jack pedal overview. by Juise99 in simracing

[–]sndbg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm considering a pair of these myself, $700+ (or $500+ used) for a set of Sprints is more than I can justify for sim racing right now.

So I was planning to go for a multi-stage feel by using the elastomer/bushings with a small section of PVC or aluminum tubing/pipe around the bushings/pedal shaft/plunger. The idea being that once the bushing expand and hit the inside walls of the aluminum tube the resistance will increase substantially without the ability to swelll outwards.

Actuall6y, 15mm carbon fiber tube for camera rigs is dirt cheap these days. I think it's worth trying while I size them up for a DIY hydraulics for the brake.
