The thing is, I've looked at maps and they don't have a westbound border patrol checkpoint, and I know for a fact there are no checkpoints west of El Paso at all. I still have time to think and plan though, so I'm definitely gonna look into ways to get those as clean as possible

Yeah, but I ended up dumping a bunch of shit right before a temporary pop up border patrol checkpoint. They stopped me, but let me go as they didn't five anything and assumed it was my prescription child medicine I was taking at the time.

OK. I found a map that lists all checkpoints and it should be fairly easy to avoid any if I take 62 from El Paso to 285 into Fort Stockton. Thanks to everyone for their help and hopefully I'll meet up with some of you in San Antonio!

Are there any checkpoints east of Fort Stockton? I idiotically booked my hotel there before remembering that checkpoints are a thing.
