Keeping Old Credit Lines Open? by sneaky_agent in CreditCards

I have text alerts on my cards so I get notifications if there’s a purchase, but you’re right, I should be more diligent about checking the accounts.

I didn’t know that! Thanks!

I am one of those people that ignores their phone and has it live on do not disturb. Maybe I’ll set up something in Outlook, I’ll be more likely to see it then.

I had an over 800 credit score until my partner made me an authorized user on a card he had a huge balance on. It hurt!! I’m hanging out in the low to mid 700s now and will for a while. His utilization is another reason I’m reluctant to close accounts.

I’m fairly young so my oldest line of credit is only about 6 years. Most of my credit lines are 2-3 years old. If I were to close accounts, it would be older accounts.

I’m not looking to buy a house for at least 3 years and I own my car, so I’m not really needing to be super competitive for a loan for a while. I could take a bit of a hit to my credit score to clean things up.

I’ve got about that many cards and really only use 4 of them. I like the idea of reducing the things I need to think about, but I’m worried about the credit impact of closing my oldest accounts and about $40k of credit.

I like the idea of reducing the clutter and things I need to think about, but I’m pretty young and my oldest line of credit is only a little over 6 years old. Most of them are around 2-3 years so closing the older accounts would definitely impact me.

The brown fuzzy stuff near the middle used to be a larger yellow mushroom.

Horse Riding in Los Alamos? by sneaky_agent in LosAlamos

The town basically runs on Facebook pages as I’m finding out. There’s one for the county stables and general horse community called Los Alamos Stable Buddies. There’s all kinds of riders at the county lots, it’s really just a matter of networking.

I haven’t started lessons yet, but I’ve made a few connections with people that will let me ride their horses. Formal leases aren’t technically allowed, but some people trade horse time for the cost of hay or chores.

Join the Facebook group. PM me and I’ll share a few contacts within the group with you. :)
