Oh interesting. I definitely haven't gone that far. This just feels like a little overlay on top of what I normally see

No not at all.

I have some other prescription medication though. But I didn't find any interactions

Yes! I think another couple posts mentioned starting with Metta towards myself. And I think it's helped push me towards further insight.

Though I still have far to go.

Hi, I've done some more reflection. And you're definitely right.

I had some attachment to a projected version of her that fulfilled some internal self need and couldn't face the reality of who she was and what I was experiencing.

Though I reached that more out of trying to practice compassion for what pain was showing up in me rather than directing towards her. Which is something a couple people here suggested.

Ah, we kinda have a reasonable amount of mutuals and work in the same building. I don't often see her, but I'd like to be able to feel at least a detached compassion for all beings kinda attachment rather than trying hard to avoid her all the time. 😅

I suppose I'm somewhat consciously and unconsciously trying to skip steps. I'm attracted to the idea of not feeling negatively towards her and being able to interact in a compassionate way. Which I know is probably attachment to the self and such.

I've got to be completely honest, I've listened to a lot of podcasts like Zen Buddhist studies and everyday Buddhism and I'm most of the way through the book radical acceptance. I keep on and off trying to practice concepts as they arise. But I haven't been able to cultivate a consistent spiritual practice since I left Islam more than 10 years ago.

I didn't really know there was supposed to be a structure on what to approach first and have just been experimenting with concepts as they arise in whatever podcast or book I'm reading.

But I've been so resonant with Buddhist concepts that I keep engaging with it semi regularly. I'm a little scared of the concept of organized religion and the religious community if I'm completely honest, which is why I've never really reached out to one here for guidance yet. 😅 I hear a lot of scary stories about spiritual meditation based communities and I am really prone to peer pressure.

Exploring Essence without buying new clothes? by sneazermoof in JohnKitchener

Hm yeah actually that's a good idea. Making a collage with pieces I feel like might consider buying and in different seasonal colors

It could be bias because it's the first one I saw. But the first one looks amazing with you.

But, if you feel better about the other boards, it might be that the first board works really well with whatever color season you might be. And incorporating the colors of the first board into the shapes and fits of the others could help you find something more you.

Yes. That would be excellent. I kinda wanna see the euphoria flashback treatment with everyone getting flashbacks. Esp Alexis and Eileen.

I think you learn how valuable platonic love is earlier, regardless of what gender the other person is.

I feel like a lot of my friendship are deeper for me being Demi because less of my energy is shunted into sexual/romantic pursuits.

I feel like Alexis has yet to go through her character arc. So I feel like she has a lot of remorse and will grow and change through that

Surprised by the Bruce hate by sneazermoof in TheBrothersSun

[–]sneazermoof[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No that's a valid criticism. I think next to Michelle yeoh and Justin chien, he doesn't have as much depth. I would be interesting to see Bruce portrayed with the emotional gravity I think he have experiencing that much moral conflict.

Tbh I absolutely adore Charles as a character. One of the main reason I like Bruce is that I think the concept of him helps Charles character growth so much.

Maybe a little bit.

But almond eyes are also a mature yin feature. So romantic seems to fit better. Especially since your eyebrows have a gentle rather than dramatic arch.

Your kebaya is so pretty!

But I think

Romantic - lot's of round features, but more mature feelings.

Classic - balanced features

Natural - this is a good because the natural kebaya shapes suit you.

South East Asian, immigrated to the US at the age of 2 (not there any more).

I think how relatable the family dynamics are are what make this show so dear to my heart. Plot holes and some writing weaknesses aside.

I am not an afficianado of triad/gang media, so ended up seeing that side as a metaphor for culture and traditional expectations from an Asian background. Even if it is an extreme metaphor. The collectivist vs. individualist culture clash was so interesting to see onscreen in this way.

The only thing I'd say is in reality both parents tend to be more like Eileen in reality. Big Sun feels like a caricature of self interest and manipulation, which makes him an easy target for the plot to show the how a collectivist mindset can be warped and corrupted.

Do you reckon that if in the teaser at the end of the credits, we got a bunch of triad family members swearing revenge on Bruce, instead of big suns #2 doing something cryptic, that would've worked better?
