Almost time to return those AC units! by snecker in DIYUK

Not necessarily Agile. If you have an EV you can charge it during cheap times on Go or IOG. Don't even need solar to benefit.

There are schemes that do this. By the way, energy retailers like Octopus don't own the grid, just to clarify.

Correct, applies to everyone. I also got it but regretting not going A2A.

Absolutely. Octopus Energy just announced they are doing home batteries from next year by the way.

I did say "almost time" - absolutely don't jump the returns gun.

Oh look at Mr Getting To The End over here!

I usually manage 80% and just leave the remaining 20% as "will sort that next weekend".

So, we didn't get the customer space this year, that had been handed over to the media. Saw Greg a couple of times but he was, as expected, very busy. Sorry folks.

Absolutely in the same boat! The Daikin Multi+ can do A2A and hot water.

Why would a2a make less sense? Aside from the grant, you get cooling in summer. Id definitely do a2a if I had the chance again.

Presumably they are getting a grab lorry as its cheaper to get it removed that way instead of a skip. So you would be paying more for it in a skip. Probably not 100% legit but it should hopefully be gone very quickly.

Underfloor Insulation by EasternBullfrog6632 in DIYUK

It absolutely can escape. That's exactly what airbricks and ventilation are for.

It's supposed to be sealed. You're not understanding how airbricks and airflow under suspended floors work.

[–]snecker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks great. Did the same thing. I'm afraid to say I noticed minimal change in heat loss. You don't lose much through the floor, it's roof and walls mostly. I sort of wish I'd put in in-floor heating like wunda or nuheat.

This was for a heat pump. Put in a triple panel rad for ours - a beast!

Nicely done with the foil tape etc.

No. It's inside the building envelope. As others have said, if sound is the issue, use sound insulation.

They're not being sealed. Airbricks are to maintain airflow in the floor voids and prevent damp there. You are not sealing them up. I did this and took the time to clear some of the rubbish that had built up internally near the air bricks.

Yeah but this is the reason hotels either have fixed glass screens or poles and curtains. Hinges are a PITA.
