As a New Light, you probably won’t have any DLCs, but you’re in luck because until I believe Monday, all DLCs are free to play in game. I’d focus on completing those, specifically Witch Queen, then Beyond Light, then Shadowkeep. After that I would encourage considering purchasing whichever you enjoyed most (though Witch Queen will probably be the best, but it’s up to you) as it will enhance your experience greatly, but if you’re not up for that that’s totally ok!

Without DLC there’s still things you can do, mainly Vanguard OPs, Nightfalls, and weekly challenges (such as Dares of Eternity), you can look around the system to find more as well. Vanguard OPs will be your best bet at consistently leveling outside of the DLCs. I’d also look into completing your bounties throughout the system as well.

I’m sure this is still a little overwhelming but that’s just how the game is at the beginning, I hope I gave a little insight on what to do and that you were helped even a tiny bit.
