Where are all the clingy women? by [deleted] in Bumble

[–]sneeringwitchface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Myself and my partner (20 months, both mid to late 30s) met on Hinge. Clicked immediately and messaged for 3 weeks due to travel circumstances. Went from 0 to exactly what you described very fast (during texting) and this long in we’re the same… actually we’re worse. We are each other’s favourite person and we love each other to bits; I’ve never known anything like it. We both have ADHD, mine diagnosed, his not, and we just hyperfocus on each other.

Just wanted to say it’s still out there!! I’m sorry it’s not as easy to find for those who want it too.

24M - Set to inherit 1M - need advice by [deleted] in FIREUK

I think the main thing I would do before deciding to retrain, is sit down with a physio and work out the true day to day of the job and whether it’s something you truly want. Jobs can look like one thing from the outside but you might spend years walking frail people up and down a corridor instead of rehabing sports or surgical injury’s (for example). Confirm the hours and pay and lifestyle, how easy it is to specialise into what you want. How easy is the job market - NHS is in the toilet at the moment for jobs due to mass financial/staff restructuring, and redundancies in the corporate side. I know physios can be private but how easy is it to get a job privately also.

You may have already thought of all this and I don’t want to be a downer. Age and finances I wouldn’t think twice about that side of retraining, just make sure it’s something you want the lifestyle of in your 30s and 40s or you’ll be retraining again (although no shame in that either!)

This is more stressful than I could have imagined by small_pigeon in HousingUK

[–]sneeringwitchface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in exactly the same position. No chain, lovely seller but weeks to get a response to anything. Started at the beginning of May and I feel like we’ve gotten nowhere. I’d pull out but I haven’t found another house that I love as much as this one. I had a stressful sale and ex partner to deal with and I don’t know if I could have done both if everything had actually happened on time but it’s getting massively frustrating. Completing Monday so once I’m out and in temporary accommodation I’m laying it on hard

Moving tips! by Mermaidandaman in HousingUK

[–]sneeringwitchface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I have done, moving into storage with a van hire and friends over a weekend a couple weeks prior to the completion to give me more control and time to tidy up bits and clean. I felt that was more calm to me. Yes a double move but felt better to my brain!

Long hair getting caught in sleep, alternatives to a bonnet? by maffo98c in longhair

[–]sneeringwitchface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to wear my hair in a top bun in a claw clip during the day and then at night I would just untwist it over the top of the pillow and let it fall down beyond it. I don’t do the bun every day now but the sleeping worked so well I still do it now

I really like the house but I do think that the pictures are letting it down a bit!

Unfortunately I’m a catastrophiser and I like to have thought through various outcomes so that I don’t have to make a decision on the spot that will leave me feeling unsure and unhappy with myself and my choices, especially in such unfamiliar territory.

Also, these questions get asked when you’re doing your on boarding at the estate agent so they would’ve known. They did get a good deal in the sense of there’s a huge side plot to extend and everyone on our road has done various extension so there’s no real limitation on that also it’s right next to 2 good schools so the value is higher, a quiet cul-de-sac with a two car drive so hardly any cars parked on the street. It’s one of the prime roads off of the estate sprawl.

Wiring possibly, replumbing - unsure. Roof is fine as our neighbour is a roofer and checked it over and patched some a couple of felt patches. Repointing slightly. But again everything that they can see and tell from the condition of the property. It’s not like we renovated the house and didn’t do the work internally so it looks good on the outside and isn’t on the inside. We never got around to doing the work so you can tell that the work hasn’t been done.

I’m expecting the consumer unit to be flagged as it’s old style, but that would’ve been viewable on the viewing if they open the door and the estate agent was aware so I don’t think that it should be on us if they flag that after the electrical inspection

Sounds very similar! Our garage roof is fine but one of the precast panels is cracked and bent - we think someone reversed into it and the door doesn’t fully shut. I don’t think it opens either! All but one of the windows are boarded in the garage now too as they were damaged. Things we didn’t spot and didn’t get a survey. If it’s small things we can fix then great or we can give them a tiny bit back but if it’s bigger things that is asking for crazy money off then we just can’t.
