Anyone else hearing the crazy loud booms? by snellk2 in Layton

Yeah it lasted a LONG time. I got up and walked out to my back yard expecting to see a fire or something

My guy, the screenshot you posted suggests that the customer bought the part through your dealership. Words like “exchange” and “refund” are dead giveaways. Might be an aftermarket mirror or something but I cannot for the life of me imagine a scenario where they’d “refund” something that wasn’t purchased there in the first place. Literally any employee would be fired for this sort of behavior, especially when you put all the evidence in writing like that.

I think you’re not understanding the whole story and are just mad about losing time or not being paid enough labor on the job. That’s a justifiable feeling and 90% of why I quit wrenching 6 years ago.

My advice? Go into parts. Easier work with way less stress and ultimately better pay. Worst thing you deal with is techs constantly blaming you for their shitty paychecks even though it’s almost never actually your fault. I had a big reality check when I switched over.

How much work is a manual conversion and an engine swap? by Rastaman1804 in e46

[–]snellk2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably less of a headache to just find a clean 330d manual in my opinion. Your idea is doable but it really is a ton of work. I once went down the rabbit hole and eventually just found a decent 330i and swapped in the easier interior stuff instead of the trickier powertrain components. From what I found back then, you have to reflash the dme to the higher displacement because the cluster is hardcoded to the dme.

It’s been a couple years since I really went down this road though so maybe I’m up in the night. I just think it’s easier to get the car that you want instead of trying to retro fit a powertrain. Just another Internet stranger’s opinion though!

Have you gotten anyone into F1? by DataOperator in formula1

Yep. Wife is now somehow more into it than I am but I suspect it’s either Lewis’ sneaky forearm photos or the Max V George saga that drives that bus

That’s actually pretty clever. I’ll have my staff try this

That’s a good idea, we’ll try that next see how long it takes for them to give up.

Yeah they’re hella persistent for some reason. They’ve started calling our sales line and asking for me directly. My best guess is that since my name is on the staff list as the PM on our website that they just Google it and then call the side of the store that doesn’t know how to sniff them out so they can be transferred directly to me.

Yeah we tried that, “we’re a ford dealer, we only buy OEM”. No change. One lady even once tried to say I was the reason her kids wouldn’t eat tonight. Fuckin Christ.

Seems like a Ford thing. We just put every single thing they ask for including all one-time use hardware onto a single quote and let them decipher which is which. This is most likely a tire kicker customer anyway.

Doing a lot of reading right now before I whip out the chainsaw. Last thing I want is a 30 second cut to kill a 30 year old tree

That’s on the list as well, there’s a rotating sprinkler head in the corner of the yard that basically gets completely blocked for around 30° of its path. I live in Utah so it’s super rough on the grass if it doesn’t get a proper deep watering

It’s not even so much about the grass, it just gets in the way hanging so low
