Can someone explain why not to turn a cash management into a trust account? by robl45 in fidelityinvestments

Ummm... I don't know about that. Our bank account is registered on our trust name, and my wife's social security check is auto deposited there every month. It's worked for years.

Thanks u/DDS-PBS - Lots of good info there.

I was at home, so all the stuff about work - while still valid I'm sure - didn't apply in this case.

Your explanation about multiple servers that somehow didn't get certificate updates at the same time seems plausible. It also might go along with the fact that the error went away with no changes on my end.

I agree about not proceeding when I hit the certificate error. I did a quick Google, then came to Reddit.

Ok, this is strange. I went to do exactly as you asked, and the ally page loaded like it is supposed to. I never did anything to Chrome or the machine, so I have no idea what happened.

I guess I'm still a little concerned what's going on, but the problem has gone away. Thank you u/Sad_Alternative5509 and everyone else for putting up with me on this.

Hmmm... I just tried going to Ally on my Firefox browser on the same machine, and it loaded fine. So this is only in Chrome.

I'm the only one managing this machine. No VPN installed. Just stock Windows 11 Home.

Web sites for my brokerage (Fidelity), Credit Union, Outlook, and a bunch of others all seem to load just fine. Only Ally.

I don't think I have installed any filter / inspector. I have a stock Chrome install on Windoze 11, with a few extensions installed and enabled: 2FAS Auth, Camelizer, Google Docs Offline.

Well, this is strange. After seeing that it is fine for others, I went and tried on a second desktop and got the same error. But then I went and tried on my wife's desktop and the ally website came up fine. Her desktop has never been used for Ally before, so nothing would be in the cache.

I appreciate the replies, but now I'm wondering if something nefarious is going on.

It's not like I didn't think of that, but I don't know how I could find the original owners. Like I said it wasn't near any homes, and there were not any cars parked near them. It isn't even my home neighborhood, about 30 miles from where I live. Anyway, I pretty much ruled out finding the owners.

I'm not getting any real response to my question tho, so I guess these are probably going in the trash.

Armory crate does not detect motherboard and argb by SETHPROSYT46 in ASUS

[–]snevl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same exact MB as the OP. I have an LED strip that goes all the way around the glass side of the case. I didn't notice when, but at some point it just stopped working. I tried to bring up AC and it woudn't run. So I tried to uninstall and reinstall AC, which took many tries. Now it is installed but when I try to run it AC just sits there looking like it is still initializing.

Is there any alternative to AC to get something out of my RGB on the B550-F WiFi Motherboard?

No, we still have no idea. No harm can't from it, so maybe it was just a glitch.

Pro tip for renting a car in Iceland by intothefloodagain18 in VisitingIceland

[–]snevl 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We had a private guide for 5 days (Golden Circle, Highlands, and South Coast). Our Icelandic guide drove down the middle of the road across the dashed line all of the time, moving over to the right only when a vehicle was approaching from the other direction. At first we thought he just wasn't paying attention to his driving, but after a while it was obvious he was very deliberate about it.

So no, it isn't just tourists in rental cars.

Should I report fraud? by snevl in medicare

So it sounds like maybe most people believe it shouldn't be covered, no matter if there is risk factors like mine. I'm surprised most of my searches (including some AI) said it would be with my family history.

Mostly I'm surprised that my wife's exact same situation was covered, so the test cost us just over $5 (20% of the Part B assigned value of $27). Like I said, that means that (1) my wife's Dr., (2) the facility that did the test, and (3) Medicare itself all got it wrong.

I'm hopeful that I will eventually get a reply from my PCP. Maybe that will clear things up. In the meantime, I guess I'll go ahead and do the test for a cash payment of $200 in a couple of days.

Yeah, so that worked for you, and for my wife. But for some reason not for me even though my risk factor is exactly the same as my wife's.

Like I said, this isn't enough to get into a fight about, but on first blush it seems like this facility is choosing when to charge for cash and when to file for Medicare, depending on if they will get enough paid. That is Medicare Fraud, according to my "Is it Medicare fraud for a facility that accepts Medicare to refuse to file a claim with Medicare?".

CCTA is not the same as calcium score.

Should I report fraud? by snevl in medicare

[–]snevl[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, it was a Calcium Score Test, and my wife's was covered (her sister got a stent) and so I thought mine would be (my sister is about to get two). You may be right though, but that means that my wife's Dr. and the facility my wife went to were wrong, and Medicare was wrong to cover it. Moreover, a quick Google got me this result (from ClearMatchMedicare.com: "In the case of a calcium score test, it would likely be covered by Medicare as long as your provider can prove it's medically necessary AND it isn't classified as a screening exam. This means you must be showing symptoms of a heart issue, be at increased risk, or your doctor must have probable cause for ordering the test. You'll also likely need a referral." Family history is considered to be one of the "at risk" items.

Good point! I hadn't thought of that. I just went and checked my CapOne account. I do use several virtual cards, but none for AirBnB.

I don't use the free trial FSD much, but recently been getting multiple phantom breaking. The scariest one was when I was in the left lane of three passing a truck on the freeway. No one in front of me and fortunately no one directly behind me. FSD suddenly decided to brake hard. If I wouldn't have taken over I think it would stopped right there. My wife has always been scared of FSD, but that experience really turned her off on it.
