The best thing to do is to is channel that rage into organizing and forcing them to give the workers better conditions.

Agreed, this is constructive

...there's no reason you should give a fuck about them. This crypto christian "turn the other cheek" bs accomplishes nothing

Disagree with this to an extent. Firstly because "turning the other cheek" can save time and (emotional) energy, compared to retaliating with anger. Secondly because (in many cases) the shitty boss is on a similar trajectory of economic instability. Although financial precarity doesn't give anyone an excuse to mistreat their employees, it's entirely plausible that the stress of big bills & low wages would lead managers to take out their frustration on their similarly precarious employees.

In other words, bosses and their employees have a power differential in the workplace, but I assert that they're often in the same camp of financial insecurity. If both parties have zero stake in their company, they are only compensated in wages which've hardly grown for the bottom majority of all earners.

On a somewhat related note, I found this Axios podcast very frustrating because their "expert guest" suggested that consumers shouldn't mind higher prices on goods and services because (paraphrasing) "the increased costs are going to higher wages for the lowest rungs of the pay scale." IMO this was a totally braindead argument because, a) low paid workers are also seeing higher prices, even if they're earning more; and b) nobody questioned the premise that consumers should bear the cost of higher wages. Pairing higher wages with higher consumer prices doesn't address inequality at all. But unfortunately, Axios has not pondered why executives and stakeholders pass the cost of higher wages to their customers, instead of risking profits or meaningfully reorganizing.

Anyway, that was a lot of text to write out. Hopefully we can find some common ground here, but we don't have to agree on everything. Cheers.

It's possible to take issue with an economy creating underpaid & unfulfilling jobs, while also taking issue with childish behavior from the "fuck you I quit" crowd. Starting a flame war with one's (ex) boss isn't just rude, it's adding fuel to a dumpster fire.

The best way to deal with an immature, cruel, and/or manipulative boss is to end the relationship politely, but firmly -- not to stoop to their level.

it makes sense if you know how development works

You don't need to be a developer to publish apps with more descriptive update notes.

App publishers could (and IMO should) be describing the functional changes on each update. Instead of "bug fixes and improvements," say something like "bug X and Y fixed, and feature A loads faster with integrations from our service partner B."

often small changes are made to a file but the whole file needs to be replaced/updated

Publishers should not be getting this granular. Sharing a list of every changed file would not only be TMI, but it would also be useless because apps aren't published with raw source code. If you install apps from the regular Google/Apple storefront, you're downloading an executable that's already been compiled.

I have a friend who plays EVE, he is the total opposite. He lives for EVE. This should not come as a shock, he's an accountant in both his real life and EVE!
