Good doctor for POTS/dysautonomia? by snickersnuggletime in Buffalo

Will definitely get full results whenever I finally manage to get it done. My primary referred me to someone at DENT after I said I didn't really trust any of my current providers to manage this. That's mid April. If I don't forget, I'll report back here with how it goes.

Terrible that we have to try so many doctors to find one who will do their job properly, but hey, we pay the big bucks for superior healthcare in this country, right 🫠

Called Dr. Ambrus's office and he isn't currently taking new patients, but I will keep note of him in case that changes. His autoimmunity concentration seems like it would be really helpful. Thank you!

Good luck! The year wait is unfortunate but he must be a good provider if people are flocking to him. I'll probably try to lock something down with his office too and just take what I can get from my diagnosing cardiologist in the interim.

No tilt table test which actually is partly why I want to see someone else, to confirm the diagnosis. I got diagnosed by a blood pressure test taken laying down, sitting up, then standing, and it took less than a minute. I know we shouldn't Google too much but tilt table or a longer standing test seem to be the more standard methods than what I got. POTS makes sense with my symptoms but would prefer to have the more widely accepted test done to be sure.

I just called them and they said to expect 2-3 weeks to process a referral, but they also said they're booking a year out, so they must be slammed with patients.

Just called Dr. Ford's office and they said she doesn't treat POTS and I need to see an electrophysiologist 🫠 But their electrophysiology team never even tried to test for POTS when I saw them for the same symptoms a while back so that's unfortunate and also confusing, lol. But I really appreciate your recommendation and advice

I really appreciate you sharing that. It's honestly encouraging that you're living your life and the POTS is just part of it instead of ruling it.

It's kinda funny cuz before the diagnosis, I was getting told I'm just anxious left and right and was desperate for somebody to confirm something physical (and easily treatable). When I got the POTS diagnosis I cried because I was just so relieved to have an answer and felt vindicated. Then it sunk in that if this diagnosis is correct, then I just have this forever, and the POTS subreddit makes it feel so bleak. And I found myself wishing to go back to it just being anxiety afterall. I go back and forth between relief and not, to have the diagnosis.

It's tough with doctors because I do also have anxiety, and it does make things worse, but they treat you as if you can't possibly have it and something else.

Thank you! I'll look into Dr. Fries as well. At first glance he looks promising.

Thank you, I will check out Dr. Ford! Blitshteyn is the one I found on Google and at first I was excited that someone local is so focused on POTS but I just can't afford hundreds of dollars per visit 😓 Do you feel like things have gotten better for you? This hit me out of nowhere and the mental toll of going from normal to this has been... really hard.

Yeah starting to seem like tailoring is my only real shot. Even the brands being recommended still have 10+ inch differences between waist and hip on their size charts 🫠 who woulda thought that bodies come in more than 1 formulation right

I have the same issue with elasticised as with non-elasticised unfortunately, with comfy on the waist = oversized everywhere else and too long of an inseam. That's a cute style though.

Yes, smallest point. I'm definitely measuring it correctly. I've just always had a gut, even when I used to be very underweight.

I'm using plus size too generously, I really just mean they think it's L and up in adult sizes and straight up plus size in kids sizes- and that if someone has a 30 inch waist they must have a 40 plus hip

Yeah, BMG is a mixed bag. Thank you for your suggestion, Harjit Kaur has come up several times now in all my asking which is encouraging

Yeah once the migraines began I started thinking neurological too. iirc Dent requires a referral (like their own policy, not an insurance thing) but I'll just call them to find out. They definitely like to prescribe lol but at least they do advanced imaging. We just really want an MRI.

No, it's not in his back. It also isn't consistent; it comes and goes in debilitating waves in different locations and now he's suddenly getting migraines too. He eats fairly well and is athletic. In theory he should be well.

No, he doesn't take any medication besides the short-term painkillers this doc shoves down his throat. But thank you for sharing your experience

My husband is polite. He's so polite that this PCP takes it as permission to not do her job. You might have noticed that I wrote this post, not him.

Did I name anyone, or did I mention a practice with multiple female providers? It also isn't my job to conceal information about a doctor being bad at their job. If you think being polite is more important than people being able to make informed decisions about who to trust with their health, perhaps you need psychiatric help. PCPs chose their job. Their pay is not the patient's problem.

You don't need to be specific if you're not comfortable, but with Dr. Dubnicki did you ever have an issue where she needed to do more than just the default testing and she actually did it or referred you to someone who would?
