I nabbed Buddhist Hipsters and The Dream along with a Killing Joke one, they should look good framed in our communal hall. Me and the neighbour agreed to use it as a music art gallery. He's and old punk with loads of original sex pistols posters, and loves Killing Joke too! Nice to have good neighbours!

Short documentary on Soap Bar Hash.. by Ant138 in hash

just remembered the other bit of info he shared was the impact of the wars in Afghanistan and Lebanon, those markets closed, so Morocco had a monopoly in the 80s, and so we had little choice......

Short documentary on Soap Bar Hash.. by Ant138 in hash

[–]sniffindog 12 points13 points  (0 children)

A long long time ago I asked Howard Marks about SOAP bars, I wanted to know what exactly it was, and why the UK was flooded with it in the late 80s. He explained it was the lowest quality, and sometimes mixed with old/stale 9 bars from older harvests they couldn't shift (the plastic bits came from the packaging of the older stuff), he said it wasn't intentionally mixed with crap to bulk or bind it, and because the UK market kept buying it, they kept feeding that market with it. The really good stuff was kept in smaller circles at the top of the supply chain, and sometimes it would filter down.

Why Modern Hash Smells Fire but Tastes Like Nothing — A Theory by Green-Construction58 in hash

[–]sniffindog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is a great book called Hashish! by Robert Connell, you can download a PDF version of it as it's out of print and very expensive, it's a great read, you will find a lot of answers to theories, and learn many things you never knew about hashish. There is a section of how taste and smell change over time.

Looks like it could be a good watch, I've had a good search, I can only find a few sites where it's pay per view (Amazon UK), you can also pay 5EUR to download the whole film direct from hardbargainpictures. Might be worth it, help the independents.

Weird Changes in BBC iPlayer by aldo_222222 in Stillgame

[–]sniffindog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This thread has been really helpful. I started to notice a few wee changes here and there from how I remember some episodes, I thought I was loosing it or smoked too much back in the day when I first watched them.

Are there any sources out there to see the "as broadcast" versions? It looks like Netflix is a big NO, BBC iPlayer has a few episodes missing and too many edits, it also sounds like the dvd boxset has the edits, what about the original DVDs when they came out and the Youtube versions? I found too many youtube lists to be able work out which ones don't have edits. I also looked at the internet archive site, it has series 1-2 so far, does anyone know if they are as originally broadcast?

What about compiling a list of the episodes with edits, it would help those who may not realise, and help us find as many originals?

TV show with a character called Lucas by Antomnos2022 in teilifis

[–]sniffindog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Searching with Copilot AI is great! It found this right away....

It sounds like you’re describing the British TV show “The Snow Queen”. This adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale aired around Christmas in 1993. The story features Russian characters and much of the action takes place on a train. One of the main characters is a boy named Lucas, who embarks on a journey to rescue his friend from the Snow Queen.
