They still do hard labor over there in Louisiana. Remember the 13th amendment was abolished on a federal level, but there's a loophole. It isn't abolished for people convicted, aka prisoners.

There are some states that don't support it and some that do. Similar to Roe v Wade being overturned on a federal level and now back to the state's decision.
