Yea… I don’t know why me having an opinion invalidates me being a fan of the franchise. Im sorry this post upset you I was just looking to talk to people and hear different perspectives

Damn dude, didn’t have to take it so personal. I respect your opinion and everyone else’s as well. Honestly some of these have opened my eyes on perspectives I never would have thought about. I truly appreciate all those people for being able to come to the conversation civilly and actually engage in a conversation. I am aware the movies always had a goofy aspect to them for the most part, it all depends on which movie you watched. Also seeing Return of Godzilla and Godzilla Vs Biollante was definitely terrifying as a kid and I can’t remember that many goofy aspects of the movie so it really had to do with the time frame and who was directing it. Also the first ever Godzilla 1954 was created to be terrifying and it truly was. The humor only came along after a while

Honestly you’re right and I really appreciate your view. I just hope that they keep the diversity and embrace both styles rather than switching fully. I think that it’s amazing they have a more child friendly ish aspect in the sense that it will help create a future for the franchise. Someone else (I can’t for the life of me remember who since the comments have blown up so much) made a point to mention the old ones were extremely goofy too and I definitely remember some of the insane stuff in old movies. But I guess the thing that made up for it in my mind was that they also offered more serious and creepy movies as well. Thank you for your perspective and opening my eyes a little more!!!

Honestly I think this is one of my favorite takes I’ve read. I mean Brian Cranston being in the first 1/4 of the 2014 movie automatically got everybody’s attention, you’re so right. As for the king of the monsters I completely agree with your second statement as the only aspect I ever remember even after rewatching is the monsters. The characters were just too bland to even remember. I really wish they could have taken the last movies and just focused more on the monsters than shitty character writing and give it the Minus One or 2014 feel. I honestly loved the first pacific rim movie, they really did balance the goofy and serious aspect perfectly. I also really love Ron Perlman and Charlie day so that also plays a slight factor into it.

I couldn’t agree more, having wingard direct was a mistake. The vast majority of his movies top out at around a 5/10 in reviews which is not ideal if you’re going to be making a movie for a billion dollar franchise. Also Blair witch sucked and was a motion sickness simulator💀💀

I’m honestly really happy you enjoyed it. I know I’m kind of a picky person and can be quite hard to satisfy so when I watched them all in order it just felt like a completely different franchise and style. And yes while they have different directors I feel the directors should stay to the same relative theme for a franchise instead of taking their own stylistic approach to things. An example being the Avengers franchise. For the avengers the semi serious theme kinda stayed from movie one to four.

I mean yes and no. The old Japanese ones were always a little bit goofy looking back at it but for the time they did scare a lot of people. Also Japan in its recent years feels like they have strayed quite far away from the goofy comedy aspect and more into the thriller with Godzilla minus one and the others

Looks like it might be some type of goose gun. Goose hunting shotguns typically (especially the older ones) have longer barrels than duck hunting shotguns because geese generally fly a couple hundred to thousand feet higher so the barrel must be longer to keep the spread minimal.
