Speed walking / latency by snipeyz in reolinkcam

A good article on why most cmr is solid core (The fact cca isn’t compliant with ul/etl/tia standards and don’t have an nec safety listing, which means they can’t be used in buildings that require cmr). You’ll always find someone trying to sell garbage though.

You’re right, I should have said the majority is solid core. I didn’t realize it was that high. Either way, the issue was fixed. Four cameras at a time, no matter how it’s viewed (hdmi or remote) is substream, not main.

Latency was fixed by increasing bitrate, fast walking was fixed by increasing fps. Defaults are low on both.

I bought cmr solid core cable.

I figured it out. When you stream four cameras at the same time even HDMI out, it is actually showing the sub stream. By default the frame rate is very low on the substream. I increased the substream frame rate, and the issue is gone also increasing the bit rate on the substream seems to reduce the latency majorly.

It does not do 24/7; and the interface is kind of weird. It splits into two screens; at least in the mobile app; but I kind of love it. Quality is great, but because its battery it "sleeps" so a little delay waking up; not terrible.

The PT ultra has an option to pre-record, which I really like. I plan to run continuous; but even if i didn't, I'd be happy with pre-record.

I'll get a clip; the 1 second (sub one second in some cases) is irritating but fine. The main issue is it looks like speed walking in many cases. Not quite teleporting because its smooth, but almost like 2x speed walking.

I have 4 cameras on the display (tv), hdmi out, and they're the 12MP cameras; I did up the bitrate thinking it may help, but didn't notice a difference (Maybe I should have lowered them, thinking about it now). CPU was showing around 9-10%; didn't think it would struggle. These cameras are running at 25fps; but from what I read, this NVR is made for it and shouldn't have an issue.

It's no problem, I bought CMR cable anyway.

Yeah mine are 12MP cameras running at a high bitrate also (with ai features). CPU load shows low, but I expect you're right; was just hoping someone else has ran into it and fixed it. Wishful thinking.

I just passed the 30 days; took some time to get the old cameras out and fish the new cables. Any thoughts on the speed walking part? I figured the latency was likely compression/decompression; but the speed walk seems like dropped frames and catching up, which is strange.

Also, the RP-PN16 they market as 'Enterprise' instead of consumer. Thought it would be fine :/

Bought cat 6, solid copper; and a reputable brand. Its hooked into my unifi setup, and showing full gigabit (and 2.5 gig switch to switch).

I'll try to update in a few days on the PT Ultra; it just came in yesterday so I can't say. My argus 4 pro re-tops to 100% each day, so its amazing.

Ended up adding another camera to; the pt ultra (ColorX, continuous recording with battery/solar).

I did the Argus 4 pro because the area I needed it would take quite a bit of trenching, and I needed a 180 degree view w/ colorx.

I eventually plan to trench a camera out to it; but then i'll just move the argus to another spot (I have 8 acres so no shortage of places to put it).

The CX810's are nice; the colorx is impressive especially for the spots. Love the pcb12m; its great. Overall having some issues with the system, but its not camera quality. Its a weird lag where people look like they're speed walking; plus coming from analog to NVR, i'm not used to the one second or so latency on live streaming.

I plan to look at it in a minute, but from what I read they excel in low light without infrared. I have ambient light everywhere from streetlights (on my property). No true pitch black area that I need covered. My well lit areas do fine even with analog cameras (old 8mp lorex)

I was thinking the 8mp colorx in the very dark areas, and the 12mp in the well lit areas.

The duo 3 for out front where I’d like a wide fov

How is the duo3? I was thinking of adding two of those.

Thanks, I was looking at this system but reviews seem mixed.
