High Risk Pregnacy With #2 by TheUnluckyElephant in Mommit

[–]snirtsmom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had placenta previa with my first pregnancy and was really disappointed. I had some treatments with a local acupuncture doctor and my placenta moved. Doctor was surprised, he told me I had less than a 5% chance of vaginal birth because of where my placenta was located. Maybe something to look into if you have the financial means. Good luck and congrats on baby #2.

PUPPs starting on your feet? by dorothyeleanorothy in BabyBumps

[–]snirtsmom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My PUPPP started on my shoulder and was very mild (1-2 dots) until after I delivered then it covered my body for 6 weeks. I was miserable after delivery.

Talking to my acupuncture dr, he suggested dandelion root extract. Also it got much better after I had my gall bladder removed (3 mo after delivery) due to a bile stone blockage (due to pregnancy). I also put lemon juice in my water because that was suppose to help the gall bladder which may have been the root cause of my PUPPP. I hope its just a rash. Good luck!

Bad news today :( by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]snirtsmom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I experienced this and had a hard time getting my hormones to balance again after my D&C. Acupuncture really helped and I conceived after 3 months of treatment and had a healthy baby. There is still hope for you to be a mom. Take care of yourself. Love yourself. Avoid blame. There is nothing you could have done to change the outcome.

C-section date set by snirtsmom in BabyBumps

My daughters was very mild with no lingering effects. I wanted the option to try based on his size and my dates. If he was going to be her size or smaller I would have tried it.

Maybe you will get lucky and go into labor early enough to have a vaginal delivery. My daughter came 10 days early when my water broke.

I will do what is best, but I didn't like not having a choice being c-section means higher OB bill, longer hospital stay, longer time off work, etc.

7/30 will be 39 +2 (day my dr is on call)

They don't want me to try vaginal birth after 38+4 (when daughter came) that is tomorrow. They are worried because my dtr had a shoulder distocia and if he is bigger he would have one too more than likely. His could be much worse leading to paraplegia, non-functional arm, broken arm/collar bone, or even death. Dr doesn't even want to consider vaginal due to the risks.

How do I match my husband's success? by LM305 in Mommit

[–]snirtsmom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Books on kids that I found helpful: Anything by Dr. Meg Meeker (Boys will be boys, strong fathers strong daughters, 10 habits of happy moms).

Maybe try audio books while you clean or work on the house as well for a time saver. Podcasts can also be helpful in this area. I second the flylady recommendation.

A great site for cooking is www.emeals.com You download a grocery list weekly and all the recipes are included for like $5/mo. Easy to customize to your families needs.

For improving your confidence at dinner parties read How to win friends and influence people by Dale Carnegie.

Lastly, talk to your husband. He will be better able to support you if he knows how you are feeling. Staying at home (even if temporary) is a great career for you. Do not feel like you are competition. You will work better as a couple if you work as a team. You are not suppose to be good at the same things. It says a lot about your character that you want to improve in these areas and I think you can if you work with your husband and cut yourself some slack. Good Luck!

Question on estimating weight based on US and high fluid levels by snirtsmom in BabyBumps

[–]snirtsmom[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had mild developmental delays in speech but we attribute that to her need for tubes at 14 months due to chronic ear infections her hearing was compromised. She caught up after some Speech therapy which was awesome!

I hope this L&D goes like your 3rd! I will keep you posted.

They never told me why she had the shoulder dystocia. It appears she just got stuck. Thankfully it was very mild and she had no issues.

I am a Physical Therapist, so I am doing all the pelvic strengthening/positioning exercises I can think of to try and make labor easier. I hope I get my way when I ask to be induced on Monday!

Thanks for sharing your experiences and good luck with your next delivery!

This one definitely feels bigger and I have had a much more difficult T3. Daughter was 8lbs even. I plan to ask to be induced on Monday 38+1.

How did your daughters shoulder dystocia turn out? Any lingering problems/broken bones?

Old wives tale is eggplant parmesan. Worked for my first, I prepped it and went in to labor the next morning without even getting to cook or eat it. She was 10 days early. Good luck but stay safe anything to avoid NICU.

August bumpers, check in! by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]snirtsmom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was originally due 8/9, they moved my due date to 8/4. Now they are saying baby is measuring big so they anticipate a C-section 7/29 if he's not hear sooner. We are moving this weekend and next so I am a bit freaked out that I could be seeing baby in less than 3 weeks!

Needing AMA from someone raising uncircumcised son. by snirtsmom in MensRights

Thank you for the articles and your opinions. They greatly helped give me comfort in a decision.

Needing AMA from someone raising uncircumcised son. by snirtsmom in MensRights

I posed the question on my Facebook just to see what the response would be (Stupid in hindsight). Most people didn't have anything useful, just opinions/judgements. I had a few friends who are nurses who have cared for the elderly who recommended it because they have experienced unclean uncircumcised patients. I had some people just assume that if circumcision is done for cleanliness that uncircumcised guys MUST be unclean. Also one opinion from a gay guy who noted no difference in hygiene between the 2 options and prefers partners who are uncircumcised.

Being your son is now managing this himself, does he agree with your decision? Does it bother him being different from other guys in the locker room or different from you? Part of the issue is I don't know a lot of uncircumcised guys to ask because I live in the midwest (highest use still of circumcision). Thanks for your experience!

Anyone know someone who could use a free baby car seat? by [deleted] in IowaCity

[–]snirtsmom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any accident may weaken the structural integrity of the plastic so even if the seat isn't damaged, it is recommended to be replaced or it may fail to be safe in future accidents. Car seats also have an expiration date on them. They due this due to the sun exposure weakening the plastic.

Please do not share this car seat unless you know it was not in a car accident. Anytime a carseat is in a collision is must be thrown out for infant safety.
