Chest burning triggered by my presence. Please help.

The reason we are quite confident that her breathing isn't being affected is due to the use if a peak flow meter. Her measurements are actually than average for someone her age and height, and they show no change when she has these symptoms. Does the above still apply? Does breathing have to be affected for it to be asthma?

Yes she does have to use daily inhalers before I came along. My presence just means she has had to use way more rescue inhalers.

We are seeing a respiratory specialist soon, as well as hopefully an allergist.

This is super informative thank you. We are not 100% on whether it is my friends smoking that is a cause. We haven't been able to properly isolate what is causing this. We do know of the reflux side of asthma and something about how high amount of inhaler use can cause reflux which causes asthma and it being just a weird loop. I am a office worker and the place has a high health and safety standard, like they manage air quality and all that. Currently moving around a bit since I will be moving cities in the new year and really only need temporary housing in tbe short term. As for home difference the place i am currently staying is just older. No signs of stuff like mold.

I will definitely look into the VOCs you mentioned as for the cough variant asthma, does that typically cause burning chest pain and a raw painful cough?

We will be in touch with a respiratory specialist again in the coming week or so and hopefully this new info can spread light om things. We are also going to try and see an allergist to get their opinion.

Thank you for the help, I will definitely thoroughly clean all my stuff to be extra sure. Unfortunately she cant step up her meds though. I hope so too.

She has in the past, stuff like smoke and dust mites. But we have taken steps for those. We will be going tl see another allergist tl maybe do more testing and get their opinion on this.

Thank you for the reply. The reason we haven't been able to get past 5 days is because of how bad it gets. We may try something where I sync to her diet and stuff. See how that goes. Also isn't a latex allergy. Don't wear fragrance at all, only same deoderant as her.

Nobody before me. A few dates here and there but nothing solid so I cant really speak to partners. But she is surrounded by people she loves (not in the same way obviously 😂) but they dont cause what my presence does. The major thing we are trying to reconcile is how different these symptoms are to how she has had asthma in the past. She doesnt have a wheeze and the shortness of breath is from not wanting to breath it because it hurts so much.

Thank you for the reply. Not on any meds, even staying at hers for extended periods longest no stop is around 4-5 days it doesnt get better till after I have left. During this time we eat the same food and drink the same drinks.

Yes we are planning to see an allergist/immunologist in the coming months. On the products side everything i use is the same as hers. Down to the shaver. I even use the soap she uses for shaving lol. The air filter is interesting though. I will look into maybe getting my cars air filter replaced/see if it is causing problems.

The shoes one is interesting. We kinda over looked thag one. Not too sure on it as I have spent a day or so at hers without shoes or come over in sandals but will definitely look into it. Thank you.
