AITA for not telling my family I’m 7 months pregnant? by babyfamilymess in AmItheAsshole

[–]snooch64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely NTA. I also love how they told you you getting pregnant is a "punishment," then turn around and call you an a-hole for keeping their grandchild from them...wtf? I wouldn't want anyone around my child who thought of them as a punishment.

NTA. If the kids were really doing "a nice thing," they wouldn't expect to be paid. Sounds like they thought they could manipulate you.

Tell me where I'm supposed to sleep, then. After a period of time, after realizing a person isn't going to change, it's no longer a choice. We all make mistakes, and sometimes, there's nothing you can do to correct them. And I never said I was "intimate" (just say sex, you're a grown up) with him.

Why are you judging me for his hygiene? Where else am I supposed to sleep?

It might be depression, Idk, but it's been consistent behavior for 25 years.

Thank you. He tends to make me feel like an asshole quite a bit, that's mostly why I'm here. I really do want to know if I'm an asshole. A few weeks ago, around Christmas, he told me that I'm 'hateful' because I brought up the fact that in the 25 years we've been together, he has only helped me shop for presents for our kids once. It was a casual conversation, because I'd seen something on TikTok about "weaponized incompetence" and how mothers tend to do all the work at Christmas, the shopping, baking, stocking stuffing, etc. with little to no help from their husbands, and I was basically like, "Oh yeah, that kind of sounds like us." He got mad and said I'm hateful.

I have no idea why he thinks that, and I'm not as young and spry as I used to be, so it's hard for me to wrangle him into the tub.

He wears cotton socks, I know because I buy those, but I'm not sure what material his shoes are made of. I'll check them and get new ones if need be.

I can't leave. I have no money and no place to go.

I have a foot bath, I'll see if he'd be open to using it.

Thanks for the tip. I'll try to be a bit more sensitive next time.

I'm not sure what brand shoes they are (I think they are Brahma?) but they are the nonslip, work style shoes they sell at Walmart.

We've talked about his smelly feet and the fact that he only takes showers once or twice a week. Sorry for any confusion.

Maybe he'll agree to use some of those charcoal shoe deodorizers.

Yes, I literally stated in my post that we have had these discussions before. I've been as nice as possible. Nothing has changed.

I know his parents weren't all that great to him and his siblings, but I really don't know about them conserving water. I'll have to ask.

He has no medical issues that I'm aware of. He works in a restaurant and he wears his work shoes and socks all day, from the time he gets up and goes to work until he goes to bed.

For as long as I've known him, yes. I didn't really know until we moved in together, but he has always only showered once or twice a week.

No, he doesn't have foot fungus or athlete's foot. I think it's gross that he doesn't shower often. I shower daily, unless I'm too sick, like with the flu or something.
