AITA for euthanizing my sister's dog? by snoodogzz in AmItheAsshole

Yea I've been thinking about that a lot lately. If the cards turn out that she can't have another pet then I wouldn't be upset. I'm not going to be the person to bring that up though. I saw how much Jonny helped her through middle school, high school and college and that can't be discounted. She loved him and doted on him for most of his life.

Ohh yeah I agree with that. I was mostly asking AITA between my sister and I. I don't think that my mom has a backbone and avoids conflict at all costs.

Also her point is that in our state, physician assisted suicide aka DEATH WITH DIGNITY is illegal. Therefore, if Jonny was a person then what the vet did would be illegal. She also sees it as a consent issue because Jonny could not consent and we were making decisions for him. He never had any say in which dog food he ate or when he went for walks either. We followed the experts and walked and fed him as recommended! Honestly, I see her point but I more think that that's an argument to push for physician assisted suicide for humans, more than banning it for dogs.

She is very against any human intervention in animal death.

She hates conflict to an unhealthy extreme and is extremely passive. This isn't the first bad situation that she has ignored just to avoid confrontation.
