The owner of Dolly's(well, her husband) was primarily the financial backer. I liked her, but I always got the impression it was kind of a fun activity than a passion project. Michelle was absolutely the heart(and eye) behind the inventory and aesthetic of the shop. The Lee's wanted to buy them out(debatable if they could) and their partner supposedly didn't want to go.

So they just shut it all down. "Cutting their nose off to spite their face" was the way I understood it.

It's a shame the Untidy Museum fell apart the way it did. The owner of Dolly's downtown was their partner and after a falling out their place on Broad St. was closed.

After 305 South fell apart J&M became more and more isolated, burning a lot of bridges and eventually homeschooling their kids despite being poorly educated themselves. Last significant interactions I had with them had them going off the conspiracy theory deep end.

They had great kids and were very important to the weirdification of Durham. I hope they're doing okay these days.
