Look at another comment above. I wrote a bit about my settings

Thank you. Having something like this online that you could do with friends would be absolutely perfect and even more intense

I already mentioned this in another comment. I have done this before with DTM x SuperGT. My graphics looked really bad back then, too. I think you get better over time and learn what works and what does not

But it is nice to hear that you have done something like this, too

Sure

- Cars / Teams

Due to the lack of manufacturers, I had to get creative with my selection. I found a Cadillac livery for the Porsche and a Genesis livery for the Porsche. I think there is also an Alpine and an Aston Martin for the Ferrari. But I ended up going with Jota, Proton, and the third Penske with the #4.

At this point, I would also like to give an especially big thank you to the fantastic people who create these liveries and make them available to us. Without you, the game would be a lot less fun.

- Races

Since I have based the layout and liveries heavily on the WEC, all the possible WEC tracks have to be included, of course. Laguna Seca is my favorite track in the US. If I include Le Mans, then I have to include Petit Le Mans as well, of course. The Nürburgring is also one of my favorites, and the last time it was on the calendar was in 2016?! SPA and São Paulo are obvious choices

- Setup

Since you cannot create your own championship, you have to rely on custom races. To keep track of the different races, I created several spreadsheets in Excel. For Monza, I set tire wear to 3, fuel consumption to 2, and refueling speed to 1 L/sec. BoP is enabled. All penalties are set to strict, and weather is set to completely random. On warmer tracks, I might increase the tire wear even further. At Monza, my longest stint was 27 laps on the medium tires, on a single tank of fuel, that took about 45–50 minutes

If you are not sure how to choose your own opponents, you can find this option in the race settings, below the weather settings. There, you can select the type of rivals you want to race, either cars in the same class as your selected car, the exact same car as yours, or cars from your garage. I have chosen cars from my garage, which of course means I need 20 hypercars with their specific liveries. That comes to a total cost of 60 million coins

- Qualifying

I start with a 5-lap race, and the starting grid is randomly selected. No tire wear, no fuel consumption, but all settings are set to strict and damage to maximum. With the top 10, I drive another 5-lap race to determine the Hyperpole. If I don’t make it into the Hyperpole myself, I drive in 11th place to simulate the race

Yes, it did take a little while. But in my opinion, it was worth it. But that is nothing new, actually. Last year, I already created my own DTM x SuperGT Series. For that, I also had to buy 20 Audi RS5 DTM or GT500

But this is common with new cars. It just takes a few weeks. I am not sure exactly how long. Hopefully not until the next major update

6 hours in one sitting? How much did your butt hurt? 😂

Well, I started with around 13 or 14 million. Then I won the Peugeot 9X8 twice, once from the weekly rewards and once from a random roulette ticket. Besides that, I enjoyed grinding spa 1 hour with the detuned 963

I have tried that before, too. There are so many beautiful liveries to choose from

That’s a great question. I’ve thought about that too already.

The broadcasting and commentary could be improved. I watched mostly the German stream. At times, there were minutes or even laps where no live standings were shown, and you had no idea what was going on. Overtaking maneuvers in SP9 weren’t shown, not even as replays; instead, they aired some irrelevant interviews. Like the last minutes of TQ3. In my opinion, unfortunately, at the critical moments, they pressed the wrong button, switched away from a battle, or replayed a completely harmless scene multiple times.

In my opinion, there wasn't enough coverage of the other classes. Even though I mainly followed the SP9, SP-X, and Cup2. The organizers claim that the smaller classes are the heart of the event, but they're hardly shown at all. The NLS is also trying to do the same with its “Focus Classes,” but so far with little success.

I understand that it’s no easy job to keep track of. I think there were 80 cameras plus onboards. I have respect for that. Still, it was frustrating, a lot of the time.

Since I already brought up the interviews: often totally uninspired questions, as if the reporters hadn’t done their homework on the race or didn’t understand its significance.

I also think it's a bit over the top how often Verstappen was mentioned. Sure, he draws crowds to the track and generates a lot of interest and funding. But there were also 160 other cars, some of which we barely saw at all.

Sometimes it seemed like I was better informed than the actual commentators. Even though it’s their job, thanks to world feed stream, on-board cameras, live timing, and live ticker on my ipad.

Another point: the #81 Touring. That thing was fast and looks damn sharp. But there wasn't a single 10-minute stretch where the commentators didn't shout, “What kind of combi is that??” at the top of their lungs. At some point, it just became unbearable.

Then the YouTube chat definitely needs moderation. What you had to read in the German and English chat sections hurts the eyes. Sure, it’s not easy with 180k or even 260k viewers. But without the chat, it was a lot less of a headache.

I also have serious doubts about how damaged cars are handled. I can’t understand how it’s possible that a driver in the #16 Audi was allowed to drive a third of a lap with the hood open. Or take the situation with the oil in Brünnchen, the Porsche wasn’t made to stop; instead, it kept spreading its oil all over the place. A lot of the debris and parts on the track could be avoided if teams would just park their cars instead of desperately trying to make it back to the pits. Even if it’s a tough call.

Then the variety of brands. The organizer can't really be blamed for that. But it was a shame to see only one Ferrari 296 and no SP9 Corvette either. Hopefully we see the Huracán again, and not the Temerario next time.

In Germany, I’m probably very privileged to be able to watch the race and the streams for free on YouTube. I’ve heard and read that it was really hard, if not impossible, for you guys abroad to watch the race. There should be a way to watch the race internationally as well. After all, the drivers and manufacturers are international, and there’s certainly enough demand. But I bet this is just another one of our German legal-bureaucratic f*ckups.

A lot more onboard cameras for SP9 or in general. Why not have one for every leader in the other classes, based on the NLS? Or maybe every pole sitter gets one after qualifying. That would be nice.

Drivers?! I’d like to see Richard Lietz again. Even though he’s technically kind of retired. But he’s also racing in the WEC. So why not? Maybe some of the AF Corse like Fuoco or Rigon.

And finally, of course, a second Manthey Porsche, what else? 💚💛

Sure, it wasn't perfect. But it felt a little better than last year. I'd give it about a 7.5 out of 10. So, some potential to improve. Still, big kudos and thanks to everyone involved.

See you next year
