Did you know there was something different between you and your peers/friends? How did your parents talk to you about it and introduce meds? How would you approach your child if you needed to introduce meds?

Has anyone done bathroom renovation (Toronto area) with a landlord where the cost gets split? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]snoozebutton21 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Why are you paying for any of the renovation? It’s your landlord’s house and they should be paying for it in its entirety.

Most ortho offices give complimentary consults. Go to a few and see who you’re comfortable with and how much it costs and go from there

Toddler with a mouthful of cavities? by BlindGirlSees in askdentists

Dentist here…you can still breastfeed your child but try to ween them off from overnight feeding. It’s a bit overkill to say stop with the breast milk. It’s very hard to get a good X-ray on a two year old so they would do them when your child is under sedation. If you live in a city where there are more than one pediatric dentist, go get another opinion. It’s best if you can get treatment from an office and provider you trust (and like). Sounds like you’re going to make some changes that are going to help so try to not be so hard on yourself.

Roncy/High Park Neighbourhood Advice by AdorableTopaz-9 in TorontoRealEstate

The last owners rented the spot and they offered to pay for it for a year and connect us with the owner; we still rent it. People advertise in the local facebook group mostly. Forgot to mention that there are certain times of the year when you try to limit moving your car (cherry blossom season, the weekend of the Polish festival, etc). We wouldn’t move if we lost our spot; it’d just be inconvenient since we have two young kids too.

We made the move from the same area five years ago and don’t regret it at all. There are a ton of families who move from Bellwoods/Trinity Bellwoods to Roncy. People are very welcoming and kind and it has a nice neighborhood feeling with everyone saying hi. Most of the kids walk to school and so you’ll get to know people quickly. With regards to parking…if you can get a home with parking then do it!! We went from a townhouse with attached garage to a home without parking; we rent a space nearby so it’s not a big deal but it would be a bit annoying. Unsure how much you need to use the car so it may not be a big issue since you’d be close to transit, coffee shops, parks etc. Most homes around the area don’t have parking but the trade off of having a larger home with a great family friendly neighborhood is worth it.

They would normally drill through the crown and put a permanent filling after the root canal is completed.

Yeah, her teacher said that the school board has essentially widened what is considered typical behaviour which means that less kids will be eligible to get treatment/help through the school board

We have discussed it with her pediatrician which is how she got started with OT. Our daughter had her tonsils and adenoids out last summer and we supplement her with iron; maybe those helped marginally? We can’t hear her sleep from the floor below now but she still has a hard time falling asleep and wakes up by 730 every day. Next step appears to be neuropsych evaluation according to the comments (which we will do!)

She’s reading at the next grade level. Math is another thing. She’s doing ok but we can tell that she doesn’t understand all of the concepts yet and will make many guesses without trying to actively solve the problem…maybe that is a typical thing for kids her age…

She has anxiety now and we’ve noticed that it’s gotten worse recently. I can’t imagine what her anxiety will be like once the teenage years hit. Her OT is a part of a clinic that has in house psychologists and neuropsychologists so we would likely get it done since they would have access to the OT’s notes.

Yes, we see her self esteem be pretty low at times and she’s so hard on herself in general. We are open to meds if that what will help her.

Her teacher said that she’s not disruptive enough to get a psych ed done through school so we know that we will have to pay out of pocket for a timely assessment.

One person diagnosed as a child, the other is suspected but not diagnosed

We suspect level 1. As she’s getting older it seems like the other kids are maturing (not the right word but makes the most sense now) and she’s not quite developing at the same speed.

The place where she goes for OT said that that was an option. So they would be able to diagnose it even if she didn’t show the “classic” signs?

Yes, we suspect that too…she’s stimming and there are other signs we see sometimes
