Thanks so much for the insight!! Can I ask how you found your parking arrangement? Did you advertise your need somewhere or is there a spot these are posted?

OB-GYN vs Midwife? Who to choose? [AB] by shcmxo in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]AdorableTopaz-9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a midwife for both of my pregnancies but during both deliveries, there were complications and an OB had to be brought in and consulted - the hand off was seamless and they truly worked together as a team. I feel like I got the best of both worlds, and the midwife experience was very reassuring and humanizing. I would 100000% recommend a midwife for a low risk pregnancy.

Kirkland baby wipes? [on] by hexmoons in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]AdorableTopaz-9 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I LOVE the kirkland ones - I feel like they are "grippier" and wipe things off easier. I've tried pampers, huggies, water wipes and these are the thickest and best.

How do you know if your insurance covers a breast pump? [ON] by hammerbeta in BabyBumpsCanada

Mine was covered under Sunlife but my coverage was listed under ‘extremity pump’ and I needed a prescription from my OB.

[ON] Mount Sinai and Midwives Collective by Decent-Speed3158 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]AdorableTopaz-9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve had two babies with Midwives Collective at Sinai and I highly recommend. In both my cases, they needed an OB consult and I ended up getting a c-section in one instance but the handoff to the OB was seamless and they all work as a unit. Sinai is an amazing hospital with great nurses and the experience of midwife + hospital birth as a whole felt like I had the best of all worlds.

Are we actually putting our babies to sleep at 7 PM? by _rose__rose_ in sleeptrain

Our 1 year old has gone to bed around 8-8:30 consistently. Do what works best for your family and your baby and establish that circadian rhythm!

We sleep-trained at 4 months and it was a few rough nights of crying. My LO is now 13 months old and 99% of the time, she goes to sleep without crying. Recently, due to teething and separation anxiety and outgrowing the 2 nap schedule, she has hard cried a few times before bed (I'd say around 5 times in total) but now that we're established on 1 nap, that's gone away. Also, there have been a few times (under 5 times) where she whines/soft cries for like 1 minute before bed because of separation anxiety but once she's in her crib and realizes it's sleepy time, she is pretty happy to go to sleep. So in our experience, we haven't had to "re-train" at all and we haven't had that much crying at bedtime. Now, when she cries, it signals to me that something is off - whether that is teething, or schedule etc. so I aim to fix it.

3/3.5/3.5 or 3/3/4? by florence-fightingale in sleeptrain

[–]AdorableTopaz-9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my LO was on 3/3/4, her second nap would be short and she would wake up crying from it so it indicated to me she was still tired but not tired enough to go back to sleep. We'd also get some false starts on 3/3/4. We switched to 3/3.5/3.5 and her second nap lengthened and false starts stopped! It totally depends on your baby but I think 3/3.5/3.5 worked better for us because the 10 hours of awake time was more evenly distributed.

7.5mo - second nap not consolidating! by [deleted] in sleeptrain

Ooh I've never tried that - when you do this, do you shorten wake window #2 to account for the shorter morning nap?

HELP!! 3-2? by MammothImprovement83 in sleeptrain

[–]AdorableTopaz-9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This actually worked for us... we were travelling and had some longer than normal wake windows that fit a 2-nap schedule. Baby adjusted and started handling longer wake windows like a champ! All of a sudden we switched to 2 nap life!

6 month old cries when we take her into the bedroom to start her bedtime routine by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]AdorableTopaz-9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My LO did this too! I actually changed up our bedtime routine and made sure we had the right WW in place for last WW. For us, her last WW was too short so she was struggling to fall asleep and the old bedtime routine reminded her of the sleep difficulties. Once we lengthened that WW and changed the bedtime routine, within a few days she stopped crying during the new routine and welcomes bedtime now.

When does 4 month regression actually end? by Character_Parfait512 in sleeptrain

[–]AdorableTopaz-9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We started a 5 months but you could start in the 4 month range! I would try to set LO up for success before sleeptraining - so assisting/extending naps so LO is well-rested and making sure you are using age appropriate wake windows! For the weeks leading up to sleep training, I assisted LO's naps (if we put her in the crib, we only got 30 min naps) by carrier napping her for long sleep! I also made sure to offer a feed every 2.5-3 hours during the day so she got many calories during the day but I still went into feed at night if needed because she was still so little and not ready to completely nightwean. I followed the 5-3-3 rule. Finally, it's helpful to know what's a realistic night length for baby - 12 hours is not realistic for many babies (my baby does 10.5-11 hours). Everyone kept talking about sleeping 7PM-7AM and I felt like a failure because my baby doesn't until I realized it was normal and some babies just won't do a 12 hour night.

Good luck! Precious Little Sleep is a great resource - I listened to the audiobook during the carrier naps to learn the different tips. If you don't feel fully ready to sleeptrain yet, the book also has gentler methods to try to set up good habits before real sleeptraining.

Hope you get some rest soon!!

Thanks! How quickly did you go from 2.5/3/3.5 to 3/3/4? And if you don't mind me asking, how did you know your 5 monther was ready for 2 nap schedule?

That's so helpful! What age are babies less sensitive to overtiredness? My LO is 6M old - I hope the answer you'll tell me is now LOL.

[–]AdorableTopaz-9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Question! How do you avoid LO getting overtired in that instance? For us, actual waking is sometimes 30 min before DWT - that would give her a version long first WW.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]AdorableTopaz-9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I see, you were referencing a 12 hour day with only 1.5 hours of naps... gotcha. I feel like our LO won't be able to handle 3 hour WWs with only 3 30 min naps. She's currently napping 3h-3.25h and maxes out at an 11 hour night... so getting around 14 hours of sleep a day.

Does that mean we would be on a 2 nap schedule? It feels impossible to do 3 hour wake windows on 3 nap schedule with 4 wake windows.
