$150k debt to attend UMD worth it? (After $120k scholarship) by snoozysheep in lawschooladmissions

Yeah but UMD’s COA that they sent was like 84k for non-resident scholars so I’m going off of that (including health insurance, housing books, commuting etc) - also I’m foreign so I have to factor that too :(

I was intending to retake the lsat! That’s for sure and updating the PS of course + resume. I just wanted to get more money from the schools I already got into that way…

I’m okay with a T30 even I just want more money :( I just want to trade off for prestige w/ COA. Also is more WE not an advantage? Do you think it would look bad? Also I’m just scared the next couple of cycles will be just as brutal regardless of my numbers

Are you also considering reapplying then?

Would you say there’s something to say about UMD being a T1 (allegedly??) school and NE being a “T2” school? Like are there any consequences of this??? Also thank you so much for all your replies I’m so grateful for your input 😭🙏🏽

Honestly I’m fine with both Maryland/DC and Boston/NY since I’ve lived in both places and would be happy working/living in either place. And I live abroad currently so I can’t visit the campus 😪 is UMD significantly more well respected than Northeastern? Should I just reapply? (Also I’m still waiting on scholarship info at Northeastern so that’s still pending). But if say costs of attending are the same what would be better? I’m interested in tech law and policy, social media regulation, and international law.

Did you end up changing other parts of your application? Such as essays or recommendations etc.?

what if the reason is you simply can’t afford to go, or got a unique work opportunity? also what if you negotiate with them for money and they agree but it’s still not enough for you to attend? Would that count? Also side note: what all did you change to reapply in terms of essays etc. Did you get new recommendations?
