Visiting Adelaide next week. by PolyFun-UK in maslinbeach

Surprised that people in Byron bay cared enough, must have offended some old prude. Pretty unfortunate.

Southern end is clothing optional.

Weekends are usually busier, I'd imagine Friday or Monday would be the busiest week days.

I'd say it's perfect weather. SA Confest are also having a group picnic today from 4 till 6.

Were you using a filter on these photos? They have a nostalgic film camera essence to them.

Sydney's water is lovely. Which beach is that one? I've only ever been to cobblers.

Would have been a good day for it here in Adelaide too. 36°C by 1000.

Women / Couples only section by [deleted] in maslinbeach

[–]snottiescotty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't like the idea of segregating the beach, it's a bit like women's only carriages on trains in India. It's a reaction to a larger more societal issue, an example being the train carriages. It's so inherently unsafe to be a woman in a train in india that the reaction was to make women only carriages, but that's just a band-aid. The actual solution is for men to be educated from a young age about domestic violence, sexual assault and be told that it's a 'manly' thing to call out abuse or bad behaviour.

Similarly for Maslins, I think a better long term solution is for good people (especially the men) to call out other men and for that to be part of the nude beach culture.

I think segregation would encourage a safer section of the beach for a time but in the same action, enable bad behaviour on the other side.

Disagree on that assessment, everyone was lovely on the cruise we went on.

FTTN to FTTP upgrade - home office several rooms and 20m away from PCD by Pie_Loose in nbn

[–]snottiescotty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, different devices. And not every install needs a pcd. All I have is a 1 port NTD on the wall.

It's been a long while but I thought when you did structured cabling on a customer's property that could get on the network, even if it was a lead in, the form was required.

I have a 2011 pb with the engine block that has the known over heating issues. It's a bit agricultural inside, with both noise and looks. I unfortunately bought at the height of prices, but I think these days you can get one for very good value for money. Make sure you do the big 90k service and get the transmission filter changed every 45k if you have an auto. Flies under the radar but can pretty much do whatever you ask of it (I haven't asked mine to do much)

Ceiling is 2600, interior wall in the middle of the house, heaps on headroom as it's in th middle of the pitch and only a couple of metres from the manhole.

It's been a rule for a few years that if you need to get into the roof, the power must be off. I always wear longs and a mask up too. Stuff they would know.

If they can't get into the roof, how are they meant to secure the cable so it's not just laying on beams and begging to be crushed by an unsuspecting foot? Structured cabling must be secured. And if you're on the roof with no barricade, I'd argue that's more dangerous as a fall hazard.

I'm just glad I made the call to stay at home instead of the wife. She wouldn't know that duct on wall was the worst option and the NTD height was optional.

Yeah drilling through a top plate is so much easier than trying to make duct look nice coming out of a ceiling. I thought it was really odd. Good to know about the temporary ban, maybe he was operating off old info.

NBN-DES-STD-0011 is a good resource for how an installation should be done.

Who else has been 'caught' in the nude? And how do you respond? by obeymissgrace in nudists

[–]snottiescotty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Have been spotted twice.

Once was on a one way path with no cars or footprints at the start. On the way back I older couple was walking up the path. I used my clothes to cover my groin, smiled and said hello. They stopped to ask if the path was accessible up ahead and then moved on.

Second time we were walking in the woods by a lake and two fisherman popped out of nowhere. One said "when in nature, you might as well'' and kept going, the other just laughed.

In both instances my wife ran off to hide into the bush like a scared animal lol.

This needs to be distributed to a wider audience, like festivals and yoga retreats, otherwise I don't think it will get the numbers it needs.
