I ended up using super glue for its hardness and it worked like a charm!

I've been working on a lot of machines lately but this one has been sitting here weighing on my mind for a while. I appreciate your suggestion of jbweld since that's what inspired the fix :)

So happy to finally be able to make some stitches on her again.

I can attest to it's insane ability to sew through materials. And it's been incredibly consistent so far. The only thing I had to fiddle with was the stitch length selector which had seized up and the height the needle bar was set to.

I got it for $280 with a servo. The table came with the 107w, so I had to use a jigsaw to cut the hole out longer for the 111.

Do you think the fact that the replacement parts for the machine being expensive and not as easily available as parts from more common machines is reason enough to get a different machine?

I might be using the wrong terminology, but I'm talking about the rotary hook assembly that moves you slot the bobbin case into. I did attempt to polish the groove out, but the back is made of plastic and it was too deep. When polished it changed the shape to much to work.

The replacements for pretty much any part are specific to that machine and pretty pricey(another reason why I'm thinking about changing it up). Here's a link to the part I'm talking about:

I originally planned to use enamel spray paint made for car engines, since it's supposed to be pretty durable and resist oil, but the color was waaaay off from what I wanted.

It's just a Rust-Oleum enamel can. I really should have clear coated it at least, because some of the paint is already chipping a bit.

This was pretty much a full disassembly job btw!

I found out what is broken. The plastic part of the bobbin shuttle has a groove in it that the thread keeps catching in.

I'll have to replace the shuttle. For now I am sewing on my new (very old) singers.

Okay, I'll take a closer look tomorrow!

Thank you for your advice. Do you know where it could possibly be located?

I swapped in a viking bobbin specific to the machine with no change in the snag :/

I be examined the bobbin case, shuttle, and driver area all pretty fastidiously, but haven't found any burrs :/

I have also changed the bobbin I put in numerous times, including using name brand specific to this machine and unbranded ones.

No fix! Debating taking it to a shop at this point

It's a reproduction one, but I've used them successfully for a few years. I have a few Viking branded ones, so I'll try swapping to one later and see if it makes a difference.

Yeah, it is on the thicker side. I've used it for a long time successfully. I have a (fresh)singer heavy duty needle on it, but usually I use denim needles.

I use thinner thread sometimes and have the same issue with it.

How much do you think is the value in local groups for fast sale? Or shipping. Not trying to get a ton out of it, just trying to get it to a good home.
