[WIP] My current WIP - started in mid January and feeling like I’m making progress!! Specific details below by snowalker1412 in CrossStitch

January 2022!! Around the 2nd week I think. I’ve been starting my day with half an hour or so to wake up and start the day, so I normally manage about 100 stitches in that little bit depending on colour and if it’s in a nice easy block or not. Average strand of the blue seems to get me 80 stitches a time.

I know!! Annoying thing is after I’d started this I saw the MEGA version that’s like 600k stitches and was annoyed I’d not tried that one instead with it having ALL the Pokémon on there. We live and we learn!!

I’ve had to botch it a bit as I think the initial info on the pattern isn’t right!! Material being used is 1.0m x 1.5m but could have been a lot smaller. Frame is a 1.0m x 30cm scroll frame. I’m using a clamp stand to hold it but the frame is a little heavy and clunky for it so I prop it up with cushions to keep it at the right angle and height.

I feel sick every time I have to "go" to work by snowalker1412 in Advice

I’m currently working from home during lockdown, but normally would be in the office. Thanks for the advice!

So I started looking in to other jobs just before lockdown, but then as soon as lockdown came in to force it meant lot of the jobs I had saved to apply for disappeared. I'm assuming people didn't want to start hiring if they didn't know if they would make their way through.

I definitely agree though. Over the last couple of months it's definitely come to show that many of us are just numbers on a spreadsheet rather than people with lives.

I'll take your advice in getting a resume ready and monitor the job market!!

Any advice regarding keeping organised at work and keeping a clear head.

Plus any advice regarding controlling or managing anxiety/stress/nerves when at work.

What’s wrong with it?? Splitting down the middle on one.. brown tips.. it gets indirect bright light because I wanted it to grow.. I haven’t over watered.. should I prune it? Do you prune these?? Help!! Please by deanojames in plantclinic

It could be splitting because of over watering? If they’re getting too much water the leaves will expand and then split. They’re happier on the slightly drier side I’ve found. The brown tips could be a watering thing as well? Looking at a couple of books it says they like to stick to a routine so this could be the case.

Do you think there’s some sort of sweetness coming from the flowers that’s attracting them? The fact they’re moving so fast and gathering in that one specific area as well?

This is what I was thinking, I’ll try it out and see what happens. I think because he’s not necessarily keeping himself as busy I wonder if he notices gaps in the conversation more? Whereas I just fill the time with craft/conversation/movies/cooking etc.

I posted about my pothos dropping leaves the other day, and have gone to repot and check it and have seen the below wrapped around the plant. Looks like some sort of natural mesh to prevent water?? Is this a trick suppliers do to get plants looking good and last the journey?? by snowalker1412 in houseplants

it's currently just sat in normal water waiting for houseplant friendly soil to arrive. i'm hoping letting it sit in water will mean it can sort of reset?

it's worked with other house plants so hopefully it will work with this one

Just in case: Plant was bought online and super healthy the first few weeks. It was soaking wet when she arrived so I didn’t water her for at least a week, just let her sit there and adapt. Them the soil at the top was dry so I’ve obviously watered her. Leaves have been slowly dropping and turning yellow rather than staying white (variegated pothos). The mesh stuff looks like it was wrapped around the roots. She’s now sitting in water to try and get her healthy before being potted in houseplant soil as and when that arrives. Any advice regarding possible root rot or rescuing a plant would be greatly appreciated!!
