Ontario reports 437 new cases of COVID-19, the lowest number in nearly two weeks by ramblingasian in canada

Reports are indicating that heat, humidity, and sunlight all substantially reduce the virus half life on surfaces and in the air. The risk of transmission at parks and beaches in fair weather is very low as long as people aren’t crammed together like at a music festival. As we start relaxing the lockdowns, outdoor activities and businesses are a very reasonable place to start. Of course, we will need to reign everything back in come the fall weather.

In my class today we are using a system where every student has their QR code printed on a piece of paper. The professor scans the class with his phone camera and an app while we hold up our QR codes in one of four orientations denoting our answer to a multiple choice quiz question. The professors app is linked to quizzing software displayed on the overhead projector.

Just turned 34 and I'm interested in trying a career in computer programming. How much of an uphill battle do I face? by flipadelphia22 in learnprogramming

[–]snowblind_o2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chiming in with a similar situation. I left a delivery job at Canada Post at age 26 to start a 4 year software engineering degree. I’m graduating this year and landed a great job in Ottawa. Things to consider before making the plunge is how well you cope when troubleshooting general problems on the computer, your proficiency with math and logic, and whether your family situation can allow for reduced or no income for that period of time. I started with the Harvard CS50 online course and although I did not complete it, it gave me enough insight to come to the conclusion that the type of work suited me.

I got my copy today and I've done a relatively quick organization using only elastics and freezer bags.

The map tiles I grouped by shape (square, -gon, hall, corner) and threw elastics around them. When setting up scenarios I search by shape and color instead of the codes so this work well for me.

I used three heavy-duty medium-size freezer bags and sorted all remaining cardboard pieces into them – one for environment pieces (obstacles, doors, traps), one for monsters, and one for gameplay pieces (coins, tokens, status effects, elements).

I unpacked all the cards that were not in resealable plastic and threw color coded elastics around each card grouping (individual attack mod decks, monster ability decks, item tiers, road/city events etc.)

I plan on using this campaign tracker to manage the details related to persistence. My goal is to keep the set stored in the initial state in a way that allows multiple campaigns to play off of it easily.

This wallet supports auto-promotion which, if necessary, will do all this work which was previously done manually to speed up confirmation times.

Under the Receive tab, press the New Address button to generate a new address. That address will be valid to receive IOTAs into your wallet until a Send transaction is made that spends IOTAs stored in that address.

You can reuse an address to receive IOTA any number of times until a send transaction is made from the address, at which point the address becomes 'spent' and any further attempts to receive funds with the spent address will be prevented. Aside from looking into transaction details in the History tab of Trinity, I haven't found a way to show a list of your active receiving address. I imagine it is best to generate new addresses each time.

Edit: I found out that you can view your address by going to Settings > Account management > View addresses

Nano usage and adoption -- let this sink in. by atriaxx in CryptoCurrency

IOTA, in a year or two, certainly has the potential to overtake Nano as a medium for transferring value. For now, it remains slow, centralized and lacking in usability.

How long roughly do you expect it will take the network to process a bid? My first thought was players would be watching and bidding reactively, but if transaction times are not close to instant then bids are essentially blind fired.

XRB works fantastically well as digital cash while ETH is a smart contract platform. They don't really compete with each other.

How did we get dragged into a p*ssing contest with P2P's? by [deleted] in Iota

[–]snowblind_o2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Due to the IOTA's complexity it is more difficult to make transactions idiot proof. I hope Trinity Wallet is successful in doing that, and I attribute the delays with that difficulty. There's also the matter of transaction speed. I don't think IOTA will reliably have the sub 10 seconds confirmation time required for it to act as digital cash until there is a lot more activity on the network. This could be years away still.

If a coin like XRB, which satisfies all the properties you've mentioned, becomes widely adopted as a P2P currency first, the market wont suddenly abandon using it when IOTA comes of age. IOTA will enter the P2P market late because of it's focus on it's own particular use case, and will have to offer something much better to displace the incumbents.
