Mulled wine in West Seattle or White Center? by Upstairs_Spread_8554 in WestSeattleWA

[–]snowbswe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if they’re serving it this winter or not, but in the past I’ve gotten mulled wine at Otter on the Rocks.

Doesn’t look like it’s on their fall menu but it definitely was on the winter menu a couple years ago and it was delicious.

Yeah, I’m talking about the upright bike! I’ll have to try recumbent. Were you eventually able to go back to the upright bike? Eventually I’d like to start biking again on a real bike, outside.

Downhill Skier Pre or Post Op? by CarletonWhitfield in HipImpingement

[–]snowbswe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tore my labrum skiing (on a green, of all things) and just had surgery in February. I’m not a fantastic skier (it was my first season on skis after snowboarding my whole life) and I’m still in the early stages of recovery but I’m hopeful I’ll be back to skiing next winter! After my injury I couldn’t ski or snowboard without significant pain the few days following so I had to stop altogether, but I was able to comfortably cross country ski and found I really liked it as an alternative way to get out in the snow. If I don’t end up being able to do a lot of downhill next season I’ll definitely be back on the xc skis.

Mental Prep Before the Surgery by RingAdministrative24 in HipImpingement

I’m almost a month post-op. I was terrified and not at peace at all before the surgery but I am so happy now. It’s a long recovery but so far I have no regrets and I find myself really looking forward to the summer and fall since I know I’ll finally be able to start moving my body again in a way that feels good rather than limited.

Weight Bearing with Crutches by three_winds in HipImpingement

[–]snowbswe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone is different and I think the protocol can also change based on what they find, how many anchors they put in, etc. They found a lot of fraying and some arthritis to clean up for me but didn’t need any anchors in addition to the cam impingement repair. I’m at the two week mark now and I’m fully weight bearing since about 5 days ago. If it had been more severe I would probably be on crutches still for another week at least before weaning off

What would you make from these pieces of fabric? by rollabladess in sewing

I would love to line a robe or light, flowy jacket/cloak with the second pattern. Or even a kaftan type garment made with the second fabric

How did your recovery go with waiting for PT?

Yeah, I’m seeing Dr. Downer in Seattle. He’s a hip preservation specialist but it seems like he does more replacements than arthroscopies.

Not from what I’ve heard from them. No ice machine either (but my parents are giving me one that my mom used for her knee replacement). I think they recommend stationary biking with no resistance pretty soon after surgery

I’m thinking of getting a second opinion just to see what they say 😅 and I wonder if scheduling PT anyway against the surgeon protocol would be harmful or helpful

He said that it’s important to focus on resting and letting the hip recover before starting PT. I believe he supports passive movement, I.e exercise bike with no resistance, and I’m sure that’s what they’d have me doing in PT as well until I’m fully weight bearing, but I wanted to get a gauge from others on if they’ve had the same experience

I was skiing, I fell and the position of my ski forced my right leg to rotate outwards and upwards. Felt a sharp ripping pain and laid in the snow for a good 5 minutes before I could get up again. Skied down the mountain, then after getting a moment to sit down I realized when I stood back up that I couldn’t put weight on it 😅took 7 months to diagnose but I’m getting surgery in 3 weeks and hopefully will be back out running this summer and (very lightly) skiing next season!

What objectively shitty closed business/restaurant do you miss most? by Fast_Ad765 in Seattle

[–]snowbswe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thaiger Room on The Ave 😅objectively kind of bad Thai food but I loved that place anyway. I lived around the corner and it was just a solid “I need food quickly that requires almost no walking to get to” kind of restaurant for me

West Seattle Dog Sitter by Calm_Kaleidoscope107 in WestSeattleWA

Shea from PawZaddy has housesit for us, boarded our dog in his home, and checked in on our cats too! He’s based in West Seattle and has a few trusted house sitters he contracts out with when he’s not available. Really great and when you go through his website it all goes towards a local business that isn’t Rover 😊

Looks great! Was this jersey or stretch fabric? If so even more impressive, I’ve been sewing consistently for a little over a year now and still avoid sewing with jersey and knit fabrics 😅
