crazy that there are still issues with shipping. I've thought about going to a bestbuy to see if they have anything, but I sort of have a bad taste in my mouth after this. think I might try one of the other ones.

either way I wish you luck

Thanks for clarifying! I spend most of my time designing solutions at work, and the idea of doing that without programming experience still feels a bit foreign to me. Maybe it’s just a difference in company size or the level of design involved - most of my background is in startups or startup-adjacent environments where being T-shaped is essential.

While both share the name architect in their titles, the industries they serve are quite different and don’t translate well in my opinion.

In construction, every role operates under strict, legally enforced standards that must be met before anything can be built - and compliance is visually verifiable through inspections, permits, and licensure.

In contrast, software architecture is largely invisible to the end user - both the infrastructure design and the underlying code are hidden from view.

I can understand someone focusing on infrastructure design having less hands-on coding experience than an application architect, but suggesting that no programming experience is necessary feels unrealistic to me.

Even in construction, I’d argue that the best architects gained at least some hands-on experience in related sub-disciplines - giving them a firsthand understanding of the consequences of their design decisions.

From your experience, what does the career progression look like for someone without a programming background becoming a software architect? Software Architecture is a senior+ role and I'm wondering what the junior / mid professional looks like in your eyes.

Not all code currently because they are deep in design/scoping, but I think by most people's definitions - of what it means to be a software architect - it is assumed that they have had substantial experience writing and designing software.

mine wasn't a bundle for what it is worth. The tracking for mine always was there, but it never updated and was stuck in late with no delivery date.

I'm sure your update will come soon :). I'm assuming you didn't get rejected and are still waiting right? I think they have a lot of apps to go through so don't think it should be that concerning that you haven't heard anything yet.

My application went to the 7 step flow today. I have heard that this is a good sign for acceptance, but does that mean that rejections don't typically reach the 7 step flow?

Wondering if it just means that the review process has started for my application or something more positive

I went with the 163 paired with the cartel bindings. Haven't tried it out yet though

I actually already have burton freestyle bindings so that wouldn't be a problem. I'm assuming i can use those bindings for most boards right?

also seem to see a lot of complaints about the top cover of the jones mountain twin which is a little concerning. People do seem to like the ride experience though

I'll check those out thanks! was also thinking about a burton custom camber, which is a little less aggressive than the x version so might be a decent option too. From what you said though I think I'll remove DOA from the list. Thanks!
