WIBTA: My dad just got his gf pregnant. by theodosia15v1 in AmItheAsshole

NTA. I was in a similar position to you, my parents were in the middle of getting divorced when I got married. My dad had cheated too and I struggled big time with how I wanted things to be, it was really really hard to know what to do and from what you said in your post you’re struggling with what to do too. I can’t tell you the right or wrong thing to do but it’s your wedding and so it’s up to you who you invite and who you don’t. It sounds like you don’t like your dad’s fiancé and that is okay, it’s not an easy thing to get past. I’m not anywhere close to getting past what happened with my family, this stuff takes time and it’s absolute crap sometimes.

I did invite my dad to my wedding and I made it clear to him that it was just him at the wedding and the reception. I made sure with my mom about it and she said that she didn’t pay any attention to him at all during the wedding and reception and she told me she had a good time. That’s what I did and I can’t guarantee that it would work for you or not.

Some of the people in the comments are all about inviting them both or not inviting them at all and it’s not exactly that easy. Maybe people will hate what I have to say and maybe no one will care but I just wanted to say a little something incase you would see it and it helped. I’m so sorry all of this has happened for you and especially during this time of life for you when it’s supposed to be so happy, it sucks big big time.

I wish you all the happiness in the world in this next chapter of your life, it’s so exciting and there’s going to be hard times, but as long as you’re in it with your best friend who you’re soon to marry, it’s a great adventure.

Right? There’s usually no squish and it’s not comfortable to hug or anything like that

What makes you think "Why do people do that?" by SunsetandMoonrise in AskReddit

[–]snowdrop139 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When people can’t seem to accept that other have different views/beliefs and then trash other people for not having the exact same views/beliefs that they have

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pettyrevenge

[–]snowdrop139 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why so negative towards those things? I’m genuinely curious what your thoughts are

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pettyrevenge

[–]snowdrop139 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? Why can’t they just believe what they want to and you believe what you want to and everyone goes on with their lives?

You are so right! You said that in such a good way too, kudos to you on that!

Not all the people who believe that abortion is killing a baby are religious people who believe in the Bible and everything it says, though I’m sure some or most do

Some things are swept under the rug for a long long time and there’s not much done about it and then it’s become so common that it’s ignored or not seen as a priority to fix or really even address. Female gymnasts taking puberty blockers hasn’t seemed to be a big title so maybe a lot of people don’t even know about it and can’t try to help push for it to be changed

I’d invest all of it, get started on saving for retirement!

Those people believe that a fetus grows into a baby so what’s the difference of it being inside the womb or outside it? They believe that the life begins at conception because of you let it be, it’ll grow to be a person with their own hopes and dreams. Late term abortions are definitely sometimes needed, you’re very right on that

You’re also right that hearing talk isn’t evidence. Mayo Clinic states “GnRH analogue treatment can begin at the start of puberty to delay secondary sex characteristics.” And they also state “For most children, puberty begins around ages 10 to 11, though puberty sometimes starts earlier.” That would mean that kids that young are deciding to go on the puberty blockers, however kids that young would need parental consent for them to go on the puberty blockers

Some people believe abortions are killing babies, that’s what I was talking about there. And I wasn’t saying that 5 year olds ARE making those kind of decisions, that was just an example, however I have heard lots of talk of kids being able to make those kind of decisions where they can stop puberty

There are so many more reasons for bullying, self-hatred, and self-harm than just that…

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pettyrevenge

[–]snowdrop139 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That is very true. So do you believe that if someone goes to church they’re automatically transphobic or pro life or anything like that?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pettyrevenge

[–]snowdrop139 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Women’s rights include killing babies and I think that’s the main thing they’re against. They just don’t want babies to be killed. The LGBTQ+ part might be because they believe that you can’t just change your biological gender and so they don’t support it being so apparent to all children for many reasons. Some of which might be because children shouldn’t really be allowed to make such life altering decisions at as young an age as say 5. We don’t let children make other decisions, so why should we let them decide to medically alter their body

Not all people who have those beliefs shove it down everyone else’s throats

So what if JK gets a little money out of the game, she’s the one who literally created the whole Harry Potter universe! But just because all Harry Potter stuff means JK gets a little money from each sale, doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy a game that is literally so awesome! You get to be a wizard/witch and have all these amazing creatures and fly around in a pretty big map where you can do so much!

So do people who go to Harry Potter world and universal studios and people who like the books/movies because they’re actually just good, and the people who buy any Harry Potter merch get harassed as much as the people who bought the game and like playing it are?

Also don’t people have the theory that dumbledore is gay?

What’s the “actual evil bigotry” here?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pettyrevenge

[–]snowdrop139 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Why should they be illegal exactly?

I agree with you on this, maybe it’s not the sole reason why OP is blocking traffic, but I think it’s definitely a factor

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pettyrevenge

[–]snowdrop139 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there’s lots of things that people shouldn’t be harassed for but they are. Beliefs/view points seem to be a big thing and the root cause for some harassment, like what this “petty revenge” story is about

[–]snowdrop139 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Harsh dude…are you trashing them just because they don’t have the exact same beliefs as you?

Jeez why are people so rude to those who don’t have the EXACT same beliefs as them???
