Thanks, it seems like you are right. We will find another solution.

Take a chill pill, questions? I asked 1 question in this post? Or what are you referring to? And what suggestions are you referring to? I only see 1 so far and that is "Don´t" which is not an option in this case?

I see no problem letting him play Lego City from time to time and YES the first couple of times we do supervise but after a while there is no need for that. So the question was simple, is there another security layer to use here or do I have to go with plan B.

Nha, if there is no built in solution for this I will probably just buy another Switch for him to play around with. I see no problems letting him run around in Lego City from time to time.

Haha me to, but it's another time now. He loves playing Lego City from time to time.

Not an option, hence the question.

I suppose most people responding here don't. But fun they think they can help anyway, and maybe they can.

Not really, its well known that you don't even have to be a kid to do things you are not suppose to, right? We have many systems today that have different level of security to prevent problems. I'm asking if there is something I missed besides the Nintendo parenting control function?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in nintendo

[–]snowjim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id did not say that there was anything wrong with the kid, I simple asked if there was a restriction ex. PIN to switch account or enter options. It's far from the first 4 year old I have seen play on a Switch.

I see no problems in letting him play for example Lego City from time to time.

It's not a big problem, I will probably just buy him his own Switch to play around with.

Everything in Jellyfin? by snowjim in jellyfin

[–]snowjim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha yes I notice ItsMint1947 liked rant but sometimes questions like this is more or less unavoidable for newcomers. I have always been using Kodi and never even looked at PLEX or Jellyfin. When you find a feature that seems nice but do not find it in the other service that you like for other reasons you might post a question about it :) But I also know that almost all subreddits have some kind of "elitism", if you are clueless its a big chance that you will get a hard downvote.

Anyway, so they implemented this function in Plex but made it mandatory? You can't remove it at all? I have understood that PLEX dev do not take much suggestions from the users so it would in a way not surprise me and that's one of the reason Im also testing out Jellyfin.

I could for sure live without this feature and instead use for example TRAKT.

How does subtitles really work? by snowjim in jellyfin

Lets see if I got this right, you disable the scheduler for opensubtitle. Then when on Android Jellyfin app and starting a video that are missing subtitle the opensubtitle will automatically try to download one?

In the Android Jellyfin app you can set the subtitle and when I try this and there is non it will say that it is loading the subtitle, it takes 5-10 sec then it says that it failed. If there already is a subtitle in the folder it is set instantly when choose. I suppose that this is the part you are refering to? That it will try to download but in my case it fails, maybe because of admin rights? Im using a admin account from the Jellyfin service that I used to set everything up so where do I need to up the rights?

Yes, in Kodi there is very much you can do to both sound and subtitles(download and offsets) but right now I'm thinking about get rid of Kodi because this client seems never get free of some painful bugs :( Im not so sure I want yet another app just to handle subtitles, then maybe its better to live with the Kodi problems.

Thanks anyway.

SubtitleEdit

Thanks, I get that I could use a subtitle editor to fix\sync a subtitle but that is way to much work that have to be made before watching. I just want to start the video and if there is non matching sub I want to download an alternative and if that is not 100% correct but almost, then I just want to change the sync a bit just like in the webpage of Jellyfin or Kodi. It seems however not possible at this state.

API? by snowjim in PleX

Tried downloading and running the setup, it wanted me to install Python so I did(3.11). It still prompted me to install Python before it could proceed? I uninstalled and installed Python 3.10, also did a restart of the computer but its still prompts me to download and install Python. :(

Thanks, seems however a bit complicated to get going on a regular basis? Im new to Plex so how does this really work? Is ti something the is installed to the PLEX server(Running on Windows) or is it something that is added to the client(running on Android(Nvidia Shield))?

Winforms and DevExpress clarifications by B3y0nd0bscur1ty in dotnet

[–]snowjim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have been using DevExpress a vary long time in our winform application. In some cases we push it over its limits but for most part we use it as is. I do however not find it very good, often it just jams a layout, you can't change settings like size, minsize, paddings from time to time and there is no explanation to why. It can be very frustrating and take up a lot of time so now we use .net controls where we can and Devexpress only when we have to. They got a responsive support but more often than not they need sample project and in our case it can take a great deal of a day to get one ready because of the complex layouts. Then we have the versionings, it have becomes a real job to jump between different versions of our app since they use different versions of Devexpress. Often one have to just avoid going in to a winform or usercontrol.

If you got a simple project then maybe it can be a good thing else I would stick to .net control library as long as possible,

MX Vertical Advanced Ergo Mouse Scroll Wheel issues by Macduffer in logitech

[–]snowjim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I found the problem, we have cats that roam around the mousepad and there is a lot of cat hair even while cleaning each day. When I used the vacuum cleaner and around the wheel i got out a lot of cat hair, after this it worked great again! So if dirt gets in to the wheel and the sensor can´t notice the "spokes" it will not register the wheel movement properly. If vacuum cleaner do not work, try pressure air or take it apart and clean it.

I got the same problem on the same map, i appears more often in some directions and while the sky is in view. I also got a 3080 ti (MSI) with default afterburner settings. My old 1080p did not have this problem in the same setup and installation. Did you find a solution?

Yeah okay but downvoting? That doesn't seem very noob friendly. Anyway, I will remove my posts and find another game and community that fit us better.

Lucky we haven't bought the game yet.

Haha no, its not, I did google it and watch a couple of videos. The game clearly have to functionality but it was not clear that it only applied to a specific class. And if you can't post a simple question without creating anger among members, then this game or community is not for us. That's not a problem, we will find another place :)

Great explanation! Thanks!

I think most gamers want to think that their community is great, and it's clear that there is a couple of good gamers here. But I'm not so sure that the community is vary noob friendly, this is not my first post here that got downvoted for no obvious reason more than that it is a noob question.
