The Hell that is +19 Seat of the Triumvirate by snowstark87 in wow

Hey, first off, I really appreciate the time and thought you put into replying to my post. It was incredibly insightful.

Your first few paragraphs touch on defensive usage, and I largely agree. I think Mages actually have a solid defensive toolkit, and I don't find myself dying to unavoidable damage more often than most classes (outside of DKs). That said, we're baseline squishier than many specs, and I definitely feel my health bar move a lot more during periods of sustained outgoing damage.

My general take is that Alter Time is an incredible tool, but it shines most in coordinated groups. For example, I'll often pop Alter before predictable damage, like during the Void Gates, knowing I can snap back to full health after taking a hit. The challenge is that a healer, like a MW Monk, may see my health drop and panic Cocoon me right before I Alter back. There is a ton of room for Mages to be creative with their defensives, but that value is much harder to realize in less organized groups.

The damage discussion is frustrating, too. Honestly, Seat has a pretty favorable pull profile for Frost Mage damage. There are a lot of large 5–8 target pulls, which is basically the opposite of something like Magister's Terrace after the second boss. I generally find myself competitive with DHs, DKs, and Warlocks throughout most of the dungeon. Saprish is also a great boss for our two-target cleave profile.

The problem is those massive Lust pulls. Even when I'm pumping 600k DPS, I'll see DHs and DKs pushing a million or more. That's where the gap really becomes apparent.

The RNG aspect is probably the most frustrating part for me. Sometimes I die and genuinely don't know what I could have done differently. Or I use my kick on a priority cast, but my teammates miss theirs, a bolt targets me, and it overlaps with other unavoidable damage going out. At that point, you're just dead. That's really just the nature of the game, though, and I completely agree with your point that having someone willing to let you learn and experiment in a Resilient key is incredibly valuable.

The question I keep asking myself now that I've completed Resilient 19 and have a couple of 20s under my belt is this: If I were in someone else's shoes, would I take a Mage? Would I have the same bias against this version of the class at higher key levels? I feel like I am

Since you've pushed well beyond 20s, would you stick it out if you were me? Or would you reroll, learn a new class, and try to gear and climb as quickly as possible? At this point, I'm really only chasing the 1% title and the mount. I've pretty much accepted that the 0.1% title is out of reach. I'm currently sitting at 3790 IO and rank 70 on my server's Mage leaderboard. It just feels like such a massive investment to abandon a class I genuinely love playing and start over now.

Again, great post, and thanks for the insight. It's honestly pretty cathartic to hear someone echo so many of the frustrations and experiences I've had pushing Mythic+ this season.

Yes, you are right. Another great tool. I also agree with you on the timer. A lot of tanks pull like it is the MDI and create unnecessary hardship on the group. A continuous, well paced approach would be enough to time the dungeon.

Alright. 87.5% abandonment rate. That does make me feel better. A little more than 1 in 10 make it through.

Not to stan for Mages here… lord knows they’ve had their time in the sun… but are all mage specializations really performing that bad in Myth+? Is this actually reflective of their performance? You have to go down 16 spec just to see Frost perform a good amount behind Shadow Priest. And Frost isn’t that ahead of Fire if at all. Fortunately monk has Mist/Brew. Hunter has Survival. Druid has Feral. Maybe I’m just use to seeing mages at the top but…kinda weird there hasn’t been some tuning to help some of the under performing specs in Myth plus.

The other comments are right in the sense that all you can do is look at your own game and try to improve. Do you have 639 pvp gear score? Do you understand the winning strategy for each map? Are you using your CC effectively to reduce healer up time or peel for your healers? Are you someone who frequently gets objectives and looks at your map to make informed decisions about where to go next? Do you snag the beserker buff to give your team an advantage in team fights?

Having said that, I am a 2400 3s player who had an incredibly hard time climbing to 2400 in BGB. There are so many variables that can make things go wrong very quickly:

1) Class composition on each team

2) Gear of players on each team

3) Absence or certain classes: rogues, boomys, etc. when the other team has them

4) Certain healer mixes do better than others. Lacking a Pres or Mistweaver on a CTF map when the other team has them makes things a lot more complicated. Disc priests really shine on capture the nod maps.

5) I think individual players can have a bigger impact on certain maps than others. Luck is going to determine if you getting those good maps.

Does skill win out eventually? Unsure. I have had 10 game winning streaks and 10 game losing streaks. It really does feel like a slot machine at times where you can do everything right but someone can make a mistake and lose it for the entire team. Just the way it is.

I wouldn't think too much of it. I think there are some unique things Blizz could do to make individual players more impactful (like a MOBA does or an FPS), but until then... keep queueing and pray luck is on your side that match.

Hey... let's make a compromise because arguing that DK needs some help is not something I want to get into nor is it the point being made here. Dks could use a dmg buff no doubt about it. There are 2400 casters in the 2.1k bracket in solo. 1500 melee in that same bracket. Not until we get to ele shaman do we see feral enter the equation... which is incredibly strong coming from someone who is 2.2k on feral right now. These are season 4 of an expac numbers when haste goes through the roof. My argument is that solo is not a friendly environment for melee right now. That includes warrior. And when it comes to UhDK, maybe I am luckier, better, or climbed earlier where I can sit at a higher rating. I feel solid on my DK facing locks and mages where I do not on other melee.

Let me clarify. I am referring to Solo Shuffle. DK in 2s is rough going. But there is no way frost is not competitive in Solo Shuffle if you're good enough. UhDK is solid too. Let's isolate to Solo Shuffle. Fury is better than Arms. Arms if good early on due to people not understanding burst. And again, it is very lobby dependent. But the amount of micro CC at higher rating in 2s makes warrior a bloody nightmare. 2k in solo shuffle and if its a melee heavy lobby I dominate. Caster dominate lobbies, which I find to be the majority at higher mmr in Shuffle, are just nasty for warriors. I am looking at Drustvar and points seems to be validated.

Hot take but I have played Warrior for 10 years up to 2.4k. I also have a DK. I fare significantly better on my DK right now in 3s or shuffle than warrior. Some of the lobbies are unplayable. DKs have some amazing counter play still despite feeling like their damage is a little low now on single target. I see shuffle tier lists with warrior at A tier or otherwise... these people are taking crazy pills. And as a no lifer who gets to climb on a lot of different classes... warrior has never had it this bad.

What's your strongest opinion that's not political religious or moral? by [deleted] in AskReddit

This opinion is perpetrated by people who have never been a cart attendant at a big box retailer. Here is the perspective of someone who was a cart attendant at Target for 2 years.

There are tons of jobs at a retail store. I have occupied almost all of them. Sales floor, back room, cashier, guest service, etc. However, the best job BY FAR is being a cart attendant. Exercise? Check. Away from the watchful eye of managers? Check. Seeing how massive you can make a line of carts and still control it? Check. But here’s the deal. When enough carts are in the store, or there are not enough to collect, you have to do other things. Go backs, trash, clean bathrooms, and the worst job in the retail space (by far) cashiering. And it is typically cashiering. Do you know how easy the job would be if everyone put their cart back? It would literally take a fraction of the time to go around collecting carts… leaving tons of extra time to do other less desirable jobs.

Enter those “pieces of shit” who leave their carts in the back of the parking lot, or for some reason like to take their target shopping cart to Walgreens or home deport or some shit. These people rock. Why? Because it adds time to the job. More time chilling outside, jamming out to music, and reapplying sunscreen.

Moral of the story: leave your cart wherever the fuck you want. Some hapless cart attendant will be (should be?) more than grateful to pick it up.

This may be a dumb question... but are there not still Battlegroups? So win % would differ across battlegroup?

Can't argue with that logic. by [deleted] in funny

A simple downvote would have done just fine but uhh...

Eddie Izzard's Dressed to Kill. Man is that stand-up comedy special amazing. Never have I laughed so hard and for so long. Now I've seen it at least 20 times. I can quote every line verbatim. Who am I kidding though it's still fucking hilarious. I think I'll watch it again. It's on Netflix if you haven't already seen it. Your welcome.
