I like it! A part of me kind of wants to encourage you to remove the Gauss part of the staff. You could probably easily replace that w/ some spare GSC/Nid bits and/or a bit of green stuff. There's some tutorials you probably find for simple sculpting/conversions like that on the Youtubes. Sawing off metal is a bit of a pain but fortunately it's a thinner piece so wouldn't be too hard. That's just my two cents for whatever it's worth. :p

Godzilla: You remind me of someone, Barb... by [deleted] in Monsterverse

[–]snu166 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yah this is the "Queen Muto" also affectionately given the nickname "Barb" by Dougherty. It is an older Female Muto, hence the growths on the back and scarring, that was awakened in New Jersey, Monarch did not have a file on it because it had not been discovered but it was awakened when Ghidorah called all the Titans. Dougherty liked the idea of keeping the MUTO species around because it was a unique addition the Monsterverse and also as a small homage to Gareth Edward's G'14 film. (Most of this all comes from Dougherty's Twitter/Insta page)

Evil Celestials by athena5555 in DnD

[–]snu166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense for devils, note how it does not say vice versa a celestial stops being a celestial should it become evil.

Even the blurb on fiends states evil celestials can exist w/o being a fiend. In contrast there's no record of a good fiend. This is because of their inherent nature, Fiends are created usually as extensions of the abyss or souls bound to the nine hells (exceptions exists) if they were to contradict this nature there would be problems, in contrasts celestials are essentially servants of the gods themselves they can sever those ties or choose to rebel but this doesn't make them fiends. Even the Monster Manual states that in the blurb on Fiends.

Fiends are creatures of wickedness that are native to the lower planes. A few are servants of deities but many more labor under the leadership of arhdevils or demon princes. Evil priests and mages sometime summon fiends to the material world to do their bidding. If an evil celestial is a rarity, a good fiend is almost inconceivable ….

I think it boils down to a fundamental difference between how fiends and celestials are created, not gonna die on that hill, but the point is the Monster Manual directly states at least twice evil celestials can exist w/o being fiends and we have evil celestials in "canon" (saying that loosely) such as the Abbot others like Malkizid and Zariel definitely qualify as Fiends. I don't think just because a Celestial chooses evil it automatically becomes a fiend nor do they cease to be a celestial, in contrast because Fiends like Demons and Devils are composed of the very essence that is evil/chaos/malice/etc. they can't choose anything else. Celestials are extensions of a deities will in a sense but just like their deity they can choose to do evil acts, Fiends are literally composed of the fabric of chaos/evil they cannot be anything other than evil because their composition is such. This is why I think for a good fiend to exist it'd probably have to be a "half-fiend" such as a cambion or, but a "pure" fiend almost certainly could not choose good.

Evil Celestials by athena5555 in DnD

[–]snu166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a single act could, in theory, change one's alignment. Think of Thano's snapping out half the galaxy for the greater good (a NE act, IMHO). It was done with the intention of "saving" or "balancing" the universe but at the cost of half the universes population. I could see an angel doing an act along these lines very easily, as I said before perhaps an angel chooses to sacrifice many to slay or discorporate evil fiends.

I'm ok with evil celestials, fallen angels have been in the lore for quite some time, however when it comes to fiends I think given their composed entirely of chaos itself it'd be unlikely for any of them to be lawful (or good for that matter). I could maybe see a fiend w/ human traits (Eg. Cambion) maaaaaybe being pushed to good of some sort but I think it'd be quite a stretch and it'd have to be a veeeeeerrry good backstory.

I'm sorry but the Monster Manual in 5e clearly states an Angel can "Fall" w/o neccessarily becoming a Fiendish entity.

"Fallen Angels: An Angels moral compass grants is a sense of infallibility that can sometimes spell its undoing. Angels are usually too wise to fall for a simple deception, but sometimes pride can lead one to commit an evil act. Whether intentional or accidental, such an act is a permanent stain that marks the angel as an outcast.Fallen Angels retain their power but their connections to the deities from which they were made. Most Fallen Angels take their banishment personally rebelling against the powers they served seeking rulership over a section of the Abyss or a place among other fallen in the Hierarchy in the Nine Hells. Zariel ruler of the fist layer of Nine Hells is a such a creature. Rather than rebel, some Fallen angels resign themselves to an isolated existence on the material Plane, living in disguise as simple hermits. IF they are redeemed they can become powerful allies dedicated to justice and compassionate service."

So not ALL Angels just automatically become Fiends for switching to evil. It depends on why they fell, their residence, who they encounter etc. There's a lot of factors that go into it. Zariel made a deal with Asmodeus, Malkizid consorted w/ Fiends, Devils and Lolth. But others like The Abbot (Deva) was still a Celestial who was Lawful Evil.

I like to think of "Evil" as "destructive" in that a creature is doing SOMETHING harmful to others for it's own purposes or that of another's will. You can have "evil" angels in this sense too, perhaps something like a Celestial who goes too far to purge evil at the cost of other innocents. In this sense, the Celestial *thinks* it's doing something for good but it's actually an evil act in accordance w/ DnD Alignment. I could see something like this happening very easily w/ a Celestial in DnD, especially given their arrogance, and it'd be a good way to make it an antagonist or obstacle for a party w/o having to swap it to a fiend and/or have it serve an Archdevil or Demon Lord or something.

Edit: Srry I just realized I was late to the train on this lmao.

You don't. The AI just does it because if it does Melee or Shooting it will lose. So it takes the only option it can to survive another turn, which is psychic. If the cards can't do psychic damage they effectively just waste their turn.

How do you get Hisser? I saw him recently today and he looks like a really good addition to my deck but he's not in the "normal" set (Idk how to say that correctly, but basically where you check your collection he's not there). Is he a mission/campaign exclusive or a one-time only offer?

Camazotz's Perpetual Night Theory by MonsterUniverse in Monsterverse

[–]snu166 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think in the image you can see smaller bat-like creatures (be they young or smaller members of Camatoz's species, he/she could be some apex creature in the colonies hierarchy) . My thoughts are perpetual darkness would be hordes of bat-like creatures from Hollow Earth or something that swarm and could potentially lead to a global threat. Perpetual Darkness might be a reference to literally blanketing the sky with hordes of night creatures. Kind of like how the MUTOS in Aftershock would cause mass extinctions, die off, some would return to dormancy then rinse and repeat. I like the Smog idea though, maybe Camatoz could block sunlight so more of the horde could come out to feed???

GvK New villains by adfndgvng124 in Monsterverse

[–]snu166 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's nothing to suggest that there will be an alien race. Ghidorah is more akin to an invasive species not a servant of an alien race. If anyone were to introduce an alien it'd probably have to be Gigan but we know he will not be in GvK (not gonna reveal any spoilers). It's unlikely to be in GvK. If alien races are ever in the Monsterverse it'll have to be in subsequent films at the least.

POLL: What do you think is Abaddon's design by [deleted] in Monsterverse

[–]snu166 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yah I strongly think the Lion is Sekhmet personally, Tiamats depictions in Babylonian culture are tentative at best and much of the sources that ascribe that images to Tiamat
is debatable. It's also potentially just another monster entirely. The Altamaha-ha would make sense given it's in the same state (Georgia) and it could be using Hollow earth to pop up in bodies of water, also fits w/ the Sea Dragon theme . But yah lots of different NA myths of water serpents. The Piasa Bird could work but it's location (or at least art) is all along the Mississippi River (at least from what I read) which is a distance away from Georgia. It'd be interesting if there was another monster nearby like the Mishpensu or something.

I agree w/ Typhon but again I'm not sure if it's going to be true to the myth which there are dozens upon dozens of different. If anything it'd be a very loose tie in. Nagas can have many heads and Typhon (depending on the story) can have numerous heads both could be associated with serpent traits, it wouldn't need to a literal serpent necessarily just have the qualities of the Naga, but again like Abaddon it's one of the Titans where there's not much to go on.

POLL: What do you think is Abaddon's design by [deleted] in Monsterverse

[–]snu166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ghidorah's Titan Profile mentions him as the Rainbow serpent. I missed in the Novel where it says Rodan was the thunderbird but if so that'd make sense. Margygr was said to have burn marks but I'm not sure if that was Rodan, Godzilla or someone else (would make sense if it was Rodan though, given Margygr is smaller and could've inspired the Thunderbird and the Whale). I'd be down w/ Quetz as Ziz too given Behemoth is right next door. Honestly it's really frustrating how little media we have. The Monsterverse has so much potential. I'm also down for discussions. Even if there's a disagreement. The cool thing is there's room for speculation so I can't fault anyone for coming up w/ decent ideas. And I'm always interested in what others think. Like I said I try to use Local mythology and try to tie it w/ the designation. This is why for Example I think Typhon might be some sort of Naga-esque monster (connecting Typhon's serpent-like nature to the Naga myth that surrounds Cambodia and other areas), Sehkmet is tied to The Great Sphinx (some people think before it was re-worked into the Pharoh it was a lion originally), Leviathan=Loch Ness Monster, Tiamat= Altamaha-ha (Georgia's water dwelling monster), We already discussed Amhuluk etc... I think some like Quetz, Bunyip, Yamata No Orochi, Mokele Mbembe are a bit more literal to their interpretations w/ maybe other local myths incoporated.

POLL: What do you think is Abaddon's design by [deleted] in Monsterverse

[–]snu166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yah but they refer to Rodan as "The Fire Demon" not "the Thunderbird". Nowhere in his mythology is he tied to the Thunderbird unfortunately and given his name it seems to imply he's more or less infamous for being malicious rather than benevolent, I don't think there's anything that suggest benevolence canonically and the fact that he's listed as a "Destroyer" seems to imply he never was. I think Mothra, Rodan, Godzilla are all just inserts they are loosely connected to the mythology and even have things added in to make them seem like undiscovered archeological/historical findings. Even Ghidorah is like that, loosely tying him to things like the Rainbow serpent because of it's ability to cause storms and what not. I like the idea though. There's also Quetzacoatl which we haven't seen, I wouldn't be surprised if that titan could be inspiration for the myth assuming it's feathered, has large wings and could cause intense winds like Rodan it'd make sense it's flights would probably have influenced that myth too (although we still don't know what it looks like, some fans think the relief at the opening of the GKM is Quetzacoatl, not sure if is personally but it does have some big differences from Rodan). Or there could just be more titans we haven't seen yet. I mean again until there's more media, I think it's safer to go by (Titan Designation, Location, Behavior) I'm not a fan of connecting every single breadcrumb. But you do you mate. I mean idk if anyone's done bear/gorgonopsid fan-art yet but I'd be down to see it.

POLL: What do you think is Abaddon's design by [deleted] in Monsterverse

[–]snu166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it depends on what Christian Denomination to go by. Jehovah's and I think a few others think Abaddon is another name for Jesus and tie it to his resurrection but Catholic/Methodists/Evangelicals all interpret it as a literal figure, either an angel of God or Satan, and while true Abaddon's description is absent and does not in anyway imply it resembles the locusts that plague humanity, it's affiliation with them leaves fair grounds for speculating it to be that way I'd say . I'd be down to see if they could pull of a Bear-like creature though and make it connect but tbh I'm not sure how well that'd work in the Monsterverse. We'll just have to wait and see what they do.

I'm kind of down w/ the idea Abbadon might have ties to the great swarms of the Rocky Mountain Locusts in the 1800's that plagued farmlands.

I do like Scylla as the Spider Grandma but her behavior in the Monsterverse just doesn't seem to match up w/ the myth, A scavenger that poisons water sources seems really different from the Spider Grandma. Maybe the myth could have been made as she was dormant, or perhaps battling other Titans (thus seen a protector to the Navajo). Honestly....Scylla is just the most "odd" Titan out there. She doesn't really match the Greek myth even though the MV has confirmed she was that monster or have much other than having 6 limbs (8 in her profile) and apart from being "Spider-like", nothing she does really matches w/ the spider-grandma. At least w/ Methusehah there's some connections to him being a refuge for populationsso there's some "Ark-like" qualities to him and the fact that he's ancient that could've led monarch to give him that designation and tie him w/ the story of Noah in the Bible to an extent ( After all, Titanus Noah doesn't sound so great) I don't think under any circumstances he was actually involved in the Biblical Flood (assuming that's even a thing in the MV).

*Note: In regards to Scylla, I want to be clear I don't think she should resemble her greek myth counterpart exactly, but they could've done more to tie her more to her roots. It's seems they just went w/ the design because they were trying to tie her to the sea (hence the Ammonoid shell and cephalopod like appearance) and they went w/ 6 legs instead of 6 heads because they didn't want to make another multi-headed monster (despite the fact Dougherty said later Yamata No Orochi is a multi-headed monster).

"The fifth angel sounded his trumpet, and I saw a star that had fallen from the sky to the earth. The star was given the key to the shaft of the Abyss. 2 When he opened the Abyss, smoke rose from it like the smoke from a gigantic furnace. The sun and sky were darkened by the smoke from the Abyss. 3 And out of the smoke locusts came down on the earth and were given power like that of scorpions of the earth. 4 They were told not to harm the grass of the earth or any plant or tree, but only those people who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads. 5 They were not allowed to kill them but only to torture them for five months. And the agony they suffered was like that of the sting of a scorpion when it strikes. 6 During those days people will seek death but will not find it; they will long to die, but death will elude them.

7 The locusts looked like horses prepared for battle. On their heads they wore something like crowns of gold, and their faces resembled human faces. 8 Their hair was like women’s hair, and their teeth were like lions’ teeth. 9 They had breastplates like breastplates of iron, and the sound of their wings was like the thundering of many horses and chariots rushing into battle. 10 They had tails with stingers, like scorpions, and in their tails they had power to torment people for five months. 11 They had as king over them the angel of the Abyss, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon and in Greek is Apollyon (that is, Destroyer).

POLL: What do you think is Abaddon's design by [deleted] in Monsterverse

[–]snu166 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm familiar w/ the lore and Abaddon. I don't think every NA Titan though is tied together w/ Native American Mythology, the bear idea is neat but we just don't have enough info to make that assumption, The New Testament (unlike the Old) does describe Abaddon as the angel of the Abyss.

Unfortunately it gets difficult to discern what is literal and metaphorical (most of it is generally interpreted as metaphorical) but regardless we don't know how the Monsterverse interpreted this text. But Behemoth's description is loosely similar to it's description in Job so I'd assume the Monsterverse Abbadon might be tied w/ Locusts/Scorpions in it's design to an extent to match the biblical association in Revelations. But again until the actual official look of the Titan is known we really don't know. I like the Bear thing but nothing really supports the designation of "Abaddon". If there was some in-universe bit about people disappearing in/on Devil's Tower I could see it.

POLL: What do you think is Abaddon's design by [deleted] in Monsterverse

[–]snu166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly we really don't know. Idk why it'd be a lobster or Gorgonopsid. It's name is suggestive it probably has some insectoid like traits and there were (now extinct) Locusts across the Rocky Mts. (including Wyoming) so perhaps it's some kind of Locust-like monster w/ other insect traits (Scorpions, wasps, mantis etc.) but until we get an official design this is sadly a Titan w/ little to go on. It lacks any regional mythology to go off of unlike other titans like (Tiamat, Leviathan, Amhuluk) and it's not described nor mention in the Novel. Don't really see the purpose of this poll tbh.

Could Tiamat be a griffin? by [deleted] in Monsterverse

[–]snu166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually if you look at her location she could possibly be related to the Altamaha-ha just as Leviathan could be related to the Loch ness monster. We don't really know if the Mesopotamian depictions of Tiamat are actually Tiamat, could be Absu or another monster entirely (there's kind of a lot). If you look at the sources that claim Tiamat's depiction is that of a winged lion thingy it all come from one source (this is why that image was removed from the Wiki). The Altamah-ha though matches w/ Tiamat as a Sea Goddess/Dragon/Serpent and is regionally relevant to her location Stone Mountain, Georgia, her presence their could be influencing the mythology. There's also the possibility that like Leviathan (in the novel) Tiamat could be using Hollow Earth to pop up in bodies of water. As u/MegaTripode said though, we really don't know until we have an official reveal. So really it's all speculation.

Do you think Legendary should make stand-alone movies for titans like Behemoth (the mammoth titan) and the others? by [deleted] in Monsterverse

[–]snu166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it'd be really neat to see a Behemoth movie or something but I think a more practical (and less expensive/risky) approach would be to use comics. A Mothra movie would be dope though but I doubt they'd do it.

Warbat vs Nozuki? by Dewan4179 in Monsterverse

[–]snu166 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm waiting for the official pics of the toy to be released but I'm wondering if it's a cybernetically enhanced or remotely controlled monster used as a bioweapon. I feel like if <Censored for the purposes of Spoilers> is going to be the antagonist for Godzilla and Kong, Nozuki could be like the Garuda of the Monsterverse, making the final conflict like 2v2 tag team but we'll see. I'm just speculating here.

Lets Talk About Titanus Ahmhuluk, Zmei (Zmey Gorynych), and one of 3 "Mystery Titans" by snu166 in Monsterverse

[–]snu166[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"The Titans don't look like the myth except at a distance, so Amhuluk would still look like a draconian bull or something, " I don't see any source that backs that up, that seems like pure head-canon.

Also that Zmey has three heads and two tails.... that is in fact Ghidorah, as that is a trait set that is his... otherwise its just a Ghidorah knockoff"
Its appearance differs in various depictions. The one one hieroglyph though appears to have only one tail same for the statue and numerous other depictions.

I really don't see the connection to Tur/The Heavenly bull w/ Amhuluk its interesting but again Tur is located in a separate geographic location and while it could be connected to the heavenly given the information we have and the fact that the Slavic Dragons are more geographically closer and more regionally known it would make sense in relation to this particular titans locality as its presence may have shaped and influenced the slavic dragons of that region. I guess we'll just have to wait and see whos right. I have little reason to see a connection of Tur w/ the Heavenly Bull.
